Looking at this Brother Serger
I am looking to purchase an inexpensive serger.
This one seems to have mostly good reviews
[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Brother-1034D-Lay-Thread-Serger/dp/B0000CBK1L/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top]Amazon.com: Brother 1034D 3/4 Lay-In Thread Serger: Kitchen & Dining[/ame]
Some stated its easy to thread, comes with an instruction manual, video, and is color coded on machine. One reviewer said it took them 5 mins to thread after watching the video, and I know the threading is a big turn-off to many people.
I know many of you bhuzzers don't like sergers, but I want responses from others who have sergers and can offer a good brand, or have this one and can tell me how they feel about it.
Thanks!

Re: Looking at this Brother Serger
I haven't tried the Brother, but I have an Elna 654 that I really love. It's very easy to thread.
I would recommend whatever you end up buying that you go to a sewing machine store with some fabric scraps in hand and try them out.
The sewing store in my town is always happy to let you try different machines. You may even find a really nice used one for sale. You can get more machine for your dollar when you buy used.

Re: Looking at this Brother Serger
I have a Janome, I think it's a 744 or something like that, and it's great. Easy(ish) to thread, does everything I want it to :)
I'd second Shahla - go and try some machines at a store. Get a feel for which ones feel comfortable for you. Previously I had a secondhand machine which was fabulous and cheap. Only probs were that it was harder to thread and I couldn't source attachments for it. After 3 or 4 years I upgraded ;)
