    costume cups for larger ladies

I know I saw a link here somewhere but I can't find it! Cup/bra base for D+ sizes? I am not thrilled with either using an existing ($70+) bra or with my attempts at making my own with pleating & fabric stiffener. Any sewing/costume supply shops with this kind of thing that you know of?

    TIA!
    Lara

The sweetnothings line from Walmart. Anala told me about them. You get the strapless kind and they're only like $14 and they're really stiff. I bought one but I haven't used it for a costume yet.

Only problem with the LB ones is that they start at a 36 band, so you have to take that into account in terms of where the cups are set. For example, even if I removed and remade the back of the bra, the cups are set farther apart than is comfortable for me. You might have to do more adjustment if they don't carry your band size.

JC Penney's Ambrielle line regularly has up to 42 DD. Yesterday I bought two bras on sale to use for costumes. They are convertable bras with NONSTRETCH straps. How bout that? I can just cover those straps!

I wear these everyday and when the back and straps start to loose their stretch they go into the costume bin so I can use the cups. I spray them with a little fabric stiffener. Great Coverage and good lift!

Same here! Plus they have the silicone on the underwire (=no digging) and they have a great underboob coverage with another piece that makes hooking to dance bra straps very easy.

In regards to the ribcage sizes, you take the straps off and make solid straps (I used canvas bag straps and cover) anyways so it doesn't matter.

I've been hitting the mall's clearance sections - doesn't matter what the cups LOOK like so long as they fit right! I can usually snag them for about $5 each that way.
