Thread: Where can I find Chiffon 2 Panel Skirts?

I'm looking for poufy chiffon panel skirts, the kind Suheir Zaki and Nagwa Faoud wore, that were cut up high with I guess 2 panels, one front one back and you can show as much leg as you wish by bring the panels closer or farther apart...?

And I also wonder if the Ravena Designs ones do not have the panels where they can be moved around? I've got a couple of skirts where the slits are exactly on the sides (not toward the front at all) and they are fine (I wore one recently), but the ones you can move around are obviously a bit more versatile.

Yes, Darbla, thats the kind I mean. I wonder if this is it in satin? They have a bunch of colors but I prefer chiffon :( Also, I need to see the waistband without that scarf hanging over it to see if the slits are moveable...

they aren't. they are just cut into the fabric and go up to about 7" from the waistband.

l rose also does satin circle skirts, and like the chiffon, they are separate panels on elastic. so you can get as leggy as you want

I'm trying to figure out my sewing machine so I can make them. I have sewing skills, just not sewing machine skills. I don't know how to operate the damn thing. If I can get somebody to help me with it, I'll have it made on panel skirts.

That is meant to tell you that if you can handle a machine you can probably make them, or get them made for not too much.

I'm frustrated, I really really want this style of skirt :(. I don't know which L. Rose I'd order if I wanted that style. All I see is the circle skirt?

are you talking about the circle skirts at the bottom of that page? they are just circle skirts with three half circles, which is what l rose calls a 'professional' style circle skirt.

Got the sewing machine going!!! Woo hoo! Can any of you recommend some instructions somewhere on the 'net for circle skirts? I know it's half circles and understand how you cut and put it together, but I'd feel better reading someone else's steps and instructions first. Reading one on Shira's site right now...

Shira's method is perfect. I use it all the time. It's about the best you'll find out there. I particularly like how she uses bias tape as a waistband. It's a great idea particularly for very delicate fabrics like chiffon. It gives the waistband much more durability where it's needed.

The Shira instructions don't describe how to make the panels that slide so you can reposition the slits, but I suppose it's just a matter of making a tube of material and sewing the top edge of the panels to one side of that (one tube for the front panel and one for the back), then sliding the waistband thru those tubes and not sewing them down to the waistband.

To make the panels slide, I make each panel separate using the bias tape waistband. Then cut the elastic the correct length and slide each separate panel onto that and stitch the ends. You end up with sliding panels, however, the elastic will show in sections. But this is covered by your belt so isn't a problem. I don't know how the 'professional' slider panels are made--whether the elastic shows on them or not.

Glad you piped in Shira. This is exactly how I do mine when I want the panels to slide. I've owned a few L Rose circle skirts and the way they do it is the same only they don't use the bias tape method. You do see bare elastic where you've made an opening in the skirt, but like you said, it's covered by a belt or scarf anyway.

You can also try this seller, very afordable, good communication, one of my friend bought twice from him and was very satisfied.

I think thats this seller Omar..The skirts you lined to do not slit all the way up and don't have moveable panels.
