    Making Endless Wave Harem Pants

    I have the pattern and am wondering how long it took any of you to make a pair and what sewing level you are.

    Thx!

    I am a very good seamstress but I dislike knits and synthetics so I ended up modifying the pattern. So I don't think my time estimates would help you.

    If you are trying to simplify it, try two things:
    Make the fins as long triangles instead of curved flounces;
    Use your iron to make folds where you want the fins to go. They don't have to be the exact spacing on the pattern: using the same amount of space between them will work too. Just keep the first and last fins 10" from the side seams.

    I pin and stitch the ruffles to the pants prior to assembling the pant. Easier and certainly faster than dealing with volumes of fabric. If you use a narrow fabric you will not have the fullness that resembles a skirt. The 60" wide nonsheer tricot is my fav for the body of the harem pants. Softer fabrics certainly work better. As per the pattern do not bother with a seam allowance, stitch along the edge. The sequins were the only step that I disliked. I often make mine with fishing line along the edge of the ruffles, no worry about what color sequins to use and certainly much more affordable. I prefer the ruffled edges on the ruffles. After the first pair I can assemble a pair in :30-:40. Not difficult, just takes patience. I have used many different shapes for the ruffles. I think it's fun to change the design a bit. One very unique pair had ruffles made from micro-dot on black nonsheer. I did not have enough sheer tricot for ruffles so I used leftover microdot. Stunning on stage.

    Showtime, do you have an online source you can recommend for the tricot? Thanks - Devora
