Rhinestones- how to prevent from snagging on EVERYTHING/falling out
I remember a dance friend told me a tip for this.. but of course I totally forgot who/what. I have a costume totally blinged out in rhinestone chains... and the little sharp edges catch on everything! (each other, veils, other parts of costume, dance suitcase interior..exc exc)
I *think* it was something like a certain kind of clear nail polish?? to put over the metal edges that hold the rhinestones/jewels in place?
I want to STOP them from catching on everything AND help prevent them from losing their gems (which tends to happen after they snag and are opened up)
any tips would be much appreciated! thanks so much!!!

You're just gonna have to regularly check the prongs. Clear polish may dull the stones themselves and will not stop the actual metal prongs from bending outwards.

I have used an iridescent clear nail polish in the past. Sallie Hanson make (made) it for a finishing on French nails. Can't really comment on how well it seals. I know I haven't lost any major crystals. And I haven't noticed any snagging. But I am also not dancing enough to properly weigh in.

Has anyone tried a glue gun? Not on the stones themselves, but to hold them in the setting and cover the prongs.

I pulled all the big stones out of my Great Loops (before I sold them) and glued them into the settings. I didn't have them for too long, but they appeared to be much sturdier.

I glued my great loop gems in too (after one fell out). I have a silver great loop and found silver glitter glue, which worked well behind the translucent stones to not look like glue.
