    Chandelier Crystals

Saw a link for a box of chandelier crystals on ebay! Was very curious and I am now tempted as they look good, there is 70 pieces in the box and it a good price.

Was wondering if anyone has or considered using chandelier crystals on their costumes?

Oooh, they'd weigh a TON if they're real crystals.

I'm kinda hoping they're not real! Because that would totally weigh the costume down (probably take the skirt with it - and maybe the undies if their attached to the skirt lol)

Its only £14 so they can't be real

Maybe they're just pressed glass and not real crystal--still heavy, but possibly okay for an accent bead or two.

Shipping weight can give a clue, but all I saw on the listing was free P&P so that was no help at all :)

They do look lovely, but I saw something about "sharper edges for maximum light".. sharp edges can slice threads and snag fabrics.

I made a bra and belt drapes out of some large, lightweight, teardrop shaped "crystals". Then I foolishly added a few "crystals" to the hems of the fluttery sleeved top to match it with the drapes. They looked lovely, but the "crystals" kept smacking me in the face as I moved my arms!

There is a section "Jewellery beads" on the left on their eBay store link:

Hallah Moustafa works with Swarovsky drop crystals. I have a few of her costumes with those crystals. They are expensive, but very pretty. If you are interested in getting costume made with this style of crystal, she uses them in some of her costumes.

    Sincerely,
    Christina

Thanks Christina, unfortunately I'm not really a fan of Hallah Moustafa costumes - I don't know why I've just never really liked them! :(

    UPDATE -

So I took a risk! I bought vitrial medium. Gorgeous! Great sparkle. They are not heavy and are only 14mm. The crystal has a bit of 'booty' if you know what I mean but its not that bad.

Will try it on one of my cossie projects and post on here.

    I would recommend!
