Pharaonics butterfly costume, how are the armdrapes worked?
Hi there, I got a question for the owner of pharaonics butterfly costumes:
I have a multicolor bedlah I recently bought some skirts for a 3-color-layer effect and now I want to make some armdrapes to match the skirts. I think a style like the armdrapes on the butterfly costumes would work best.
I have some leftover pieces of chiffon from a different sewing project that matches the skirt perfectly but wouldn't want to cut it up and then finding out I cut too small or wrong shape...
Can someone tell me how the cut of these drapes is? Are they attatched to the wristbands or just pulled through? And how is dancing with them, any problems with veilwork? (I ask as I once had a costume with very full princessy sleeves with which veilwork was close to impossible).

Hi Shari. They ARE beautiful arm drapes. They are long thin pieces of fabric
attached at both the upper arm and wrist.
For me there is not enough fabric to interfere with veil. I'd have to be extra careful with sword though.
Post pictures when you're done!

I have unattached them from the wrist band before and criss crossed them down my arm and tucked under the wrist band. Looks great!!!

O.k., can someone then tell me how the cut of them is and measure it?
Is this a rectangular stripe of chiffon attatched to the upper arm band? How long and how wide are these chiffon stripes? I have a little leftover of a matching chiffon but I only have one try to cut it and don't want to mess the chiffon up by cutting it too small.
I bought an arabesque skirt with constrasting color underskirt that came without accessoires and would want to make these armdrapes to go with them.

There are 2 pieces of fabric, one is 3" wide and 38" long, the other is 4" wide and 45" long. The 3" wide piece attaches at 32" to the other arm cuff and the ends hang off. The 4" wide piece attaches at 30" to the other armcuff and the ends hang off. The edges are trimmed in sequins.

Thanks so much, the description even with pics is perfect!
I wouldn't have thought about making them in different length and width and attatching them at different length to the wristband but now as you say it, it totally makes sense!
A thousand hugs to you jewels, I'll post pics when I'm finished with my costume.Last edited by sha-ri; 05-10-2010 at 05:47 AM.

i unattached the arm drapes from the arm and wristbands and am planning to add some buttons to use them when i want. i usually am careful with them and the veil, so i preferred to separate them to use the drapes only when i'm sure they won't interfere with anything ;)
