    Artistry brand cosmetics?

Someone wants to show me the Artistry cosmetics from Amway so I'm looking around for reviews. The reviews on Makeup Alley were like anything else: some great, some terrible, some in the middle. They seem to be priced about in line with MAC, so if they are at least as good as MAC they might be worth checking out. They claim they are up there with Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent in quality, so I'm thinking they better be BETTER than MAC.

I have never heard of them, but I don't like to do business with multi-level marketing companies. Basically, I hate everything involved in purchasing from one of them -- the pressure to attend sales-pitch parties, the pressure to then host parties, the pressure to rope your friends and family in to attend the parties, the pressure to buy more for bigger discounts and bonuses, ack. And if you do like the products enough to reorder, they'll be hounding you to "join their team" and become a sales associate.

If you allow yourself to get sucked into one of the sales pitches, I would take some MAC products along (or some other good makeup) and do some side by side comparisons of pigment, blendability, etc.

I caved and bought a couple of Beauty Control products a while back and they were crap with high end department store prices.

i dont think they are AS good as mac, but i buy artistry products sometimes from a friend that sells them, and i really like the liquid foundation (i use it for daily use, as it's a little lighter than the liquid mac and they have very light coulours), i've also bought their mascara, eye pencils, etc and am pretty happy with them.

the girl also sells "funkhouser" or "funkhouse" , dont know the exact name, but i think it's connected to artistry, that i've got a foundation pallet for the eyes from that is BRILLIANT

I like most Artistry products, especially their foundation. I'm not a huge fan of their eyeliners because I think they drag a bit, but then I'm extremely picky about that. If you're thinking about performing in them, I can't help you much there. I don't really know how well they stand up to heavy lighting, sweat, etc.
Their mineral products are great, but I don't think they're strong enough for stage lighting. I like their mascara a lot.

My mom used to sell it, and I used it for quite a while. I liked almost all their stuff. My big problem was that I'd find a color shadow or lip liner that was an AWESOME shade for ME and then next time I went to order it.... usually many months later.... it was gone, discontinued. I didn't care for their regular lipstick... too dry, but that was a long time ago. I loved the tinted gloss (or whatever they called it...) I know they have a lot more mineral stuff now, which is MY preference, so If you have the time, I think it'd be worth at least taking a look at some of it. What could it hurt? Just be honest about how you feel about the product. She doesn't make it, she just sells it and likes it for HER skin....and bank account... : )

All the blasted cosmetics companies keep doing this to us! ..cr.: And I'm afraid to stock up because my skin or preferences may change later and I'm not as crazy about some product as I was at first. So danged if you do and danged if you don't!

Thanks, girls. I am intrigued enough to try a few things. Will report back to you.

My previous dance instructor had a friend who sold Artistry. I was the only one to show up to a "make-up party" a few years ago--I felt bad for her and bought a few things. The foundation was great for the summer because it's light (I went back to MAC eventually). The body glitter lasted forever, and I didn't get to use the lip liner more than a few times because someone stole it from me at a friend's wedding. It was nice while I had it, lol.

Good luck trying out the products, Darbla!

My former Mother-in Law sold this. Every Xmas I got more. If she'd sent me more than Lipsticks in bright orange, reds and hot pinks, I'd have more to say. lol! She also pitched me to sell it, which was a turn off. I had problems with their foundation as far as sensitivities.

I tend to lean toward companies who tout natural, no odd additives/animal testing etc. To be fair, I do not know about Artistry as I hadn't seen their products in years.

I've used Arbonne (another MLM) for years (reasonable and great on my sensitive skin!) and also adore Mac, Urban Decay and Hard Candy.
