Honestly, from what I've seen of electrolysis it's really time consuming and doesn't always work. I'd suggest just waxing. I wax my legs a few times a year and even there where my hair is thick it severely cuts down on my need to shave.

Thanks Dima, but I've tried waxing using even a professional product and it was mess! It's hard to hold your skin taut enough for success I've found :(
Thanks,
Ululani

Get it done professionally. You're sending an electrified needle into your hair follicle. This is not something you want to try at home.
I am going to be looking at pro electrolysis on my chin in another few weeks. Lip and brows, waxing is fine, but the chin hairs are too horrific to contemplate and they need doing too often.
A friend of mine had electrolysis on her lip, bikini line etc, and while it took a long time and multiple treatments, she has remained hairless.

Thanks Zumarrad...yes, I guess I should look into how much it is going to cost me..I know you have to go and have it done several times...the price we have to pay for beauty huh? YIKES!!

Exactly - go to a professional. I've done it over the years and it does take a long time but it eventually works. But please don't do this on your own. Or get laser by a professional. There is no guarantee that any of them work but you don't need any unnecessary infections to complicate things.

ululani dont even bother with home electrolysis..i've tried it in the past and it just doesn't work...especially on asian hair. i would go to someone asian and get ur unwanted hair removed...they will understand your pain lol.

Re: HELP! anyone have success in using a home electrolysis machine?
Hi Ululani:)
As a part mediterrainian girl with PCOS;I´ve struggled and tried a lot of stuff against "hair everywhere".
I would say that the most affordable and longest lasting alternative is waxing.
(If you are going to a pro, make sure it is a hygienic salon)
For home waxing I suggest showering and scrubbing with exfoliating gloves(don´t moisturize, the only thing I use before waxing is a light layer of body powder) before using strips.
(I mean the kind that already has the wax attached to them.)
Go methodically around your legs, use the wax remover wipes after.
Even though I use heated roll-on wax it can cause a mess at home, burn your skin if it´s too hot etc.
For face and arm pits I LOVE brazilian hard wax.
Yes-it is great for other areas than the intimate:)
Wash your face or do it after showering(don´t moisturize)and warm the pot brazilian wax in the micro. It should be creamy but not runny.
Since this type of wax doesn´t adhere to the skin you can wax often and repeat without more irritation than a slight blush of the skin.
If you are not sensitive to aspirin, crush 4-5 uncoated generic aspirin and mix the powder with half skintonic(without alcohol)and half aloe vera, put on with a cotton pad to not get ingrowns.
I have been spending a FORTUNE on laser removal(Alexandrite Laser),but professionally done electrolysis is more dependable as the laser machines are not all made the same.
Hope this helps a little,
hugs from Sweden<3

thanks again ladies for all your feedback ;) I spoke with my bellydance teacher last nite and she was telling me about this product called "NO! NO!" it's sold at Sephora and she has had success in using this product so I am going to give it a try...it costs several hundred dollars though

Re: HELP! anyone have success in using a home electrolysis machine?
Hi Ladies,
Ok, let me tell you what happened to me...I bought the NO! NO! from HSN ( a friend recommended it) I tried it and OMG! I have burns all over my face! I'm so afraid to try it again..it hurt like s - - t! I'm thinking of having profesionnal lazer treatments done...so far the "smooth away" which is a fine sandpaper hair removal (I'm sure you seen it on TV) works pretty well for me, but you have to do it again in like 2 days again.

In the meantime go to a pro waxer/sugarer. I'm super hairy
and have been going to the same lady for 10 years. It's a totally different experience than home waxing. I do sugaring because it's less painful. Just make sure you go to someone who knows their stuff.

Re: HELP! anyone have success in using a home electrolysis machine?
Thought I would revive this thread in case anyone is interested.
I bought one of those home electrolysis machines (the ones with the needle not pliers) and have been using it on and off for about a year now.
Like some of the reviews have said it does really work but it is not for most people.
I am the sort of person who will sit still and work on something for 3 hours at a time if I am suitably motivated, so working hair by hair was fine for me. I listen to documentaries on the tv at night while doing it.
I did some areas on my legs and also bikin. To test if it really worked i did only one side of my bikini line
But it was a good thing to do as the difference is incredible.
There are downsides, in the early stages I caused some scarring because i didn't use a bright light to see exactly where the follicle was and left the needle in too long.
To reduce the risk of scarring it is imperative to not leave the needle in for longer than recommended and if the hair doesn't pop out just leave it alone until next time. Don't be tempted to get that sucker at all costs!
it takes a bit of time to get good at it. my success rate was only about 1 in 5 hairs when i started, but is now more like 4 out of 5.
I read the instructions 3 times over, experimented a bit then read them again.
I'm happy to give more info if anyone wants you can pm.
