Thread: What are you working on? June 2010

It's June and I am so happy I start off my favorite monthly thread. ..g.:
In May I finished a teal costume I traded with Shirin (pics below).
Now I'm working on three projects. A dark red velvet bra&skirt costume for my friend, a yellow bra&skirt costume and white bra&skirt costume both for myself. I have only just begun so I have no picture of them, I'll post pics later.

Wow that's hot!

Last night I manage to put a nylon fishing line on the hem of a mermaid skirt.

I used the zig-zag stitches: took me and hour, the thread on the machine broke about 8 times and also broke one needle but it's done.

The skirt is made of velvet and the triangular inserts are very light chiffon. When I sew the line on the velvet parts it went very well. But for the chiffon parts (6 of them) it was more tricky but I realized I was going to fast.

But anywoo, I'm happy with the final result, that is, if you're not looking to close!

I'm not at all proficient with a needle and thread, but my mum is! I've been trying to convince her to join and post photos of the project she's been working on for me.

After seeing the teal number, I had to scoop my jaw off the keyboard before I could type...

I have 1,000 projects to finish, and I've sworn I shall buy not even one sequin- unless it is to complete something from my bellydance mending/sewing pile. Which I'm pretty sure is bigger than my costume pile! But the first things on the list are sewing hooks to a bra for a new sugarpetals body stocking, mending my favorite hip scarf, and adding hooks to two others... but it goes on... for a long, long time... :)

I just finished these two costumes at the end of May. I'm in pink, my daughter in green. We danced for marathon runners on Sunday for 3.5 hours. I think this was somewhere around hour 2...

We didn't have a chance to get close-ups or photos when we weren't moving. I'll try for those later!

I'm now working on hemming two circle plus skirts and have 5 trumpets cut out. Gonna be a busy-ish month!

There were about 15 of us. We even had a raised stage and a tent. Really good sound system and we swapped out CD's as we felt like. It's so much fun to dance without pressure!

I know the "real" marathoners probably don't notice us, but the "duffers" really seem to appreciate it!

As for the trumpet skirts... I gathered my stash a few weekends ago and had a cutting party. I'm always shy of skirts, so this might help me even out. But then I'll need more bedlahs!

Love these threads! I am sloooowly working on a white/multi bedleh - I have half of one bra cup covered in the base fabric (velvet!) and that's it. It takes me forever to make costumes.

I'm almost done mounting my brass mirror set... should have pics up this evening!

I got the belt all mounted... still have work to do on the top though so you'll all have to wait! :-P

okay everyone please be kind & remember this is my FIRST bra. yes i included body shots :shok: it's not perfect, but for the most part i'm happy with how it turned out. we had a dress rehersal last night & EVERYONE including my teacher loved it & were very impressed that i made it. when i changed one lady who is a J cup (can you imagine) was all over my bra looking at it & she's very interested in making her own.

the decorating part isn't finished going to add more gems & some scatter beading maybe some more sequins as well, but we will see how i end up for time.

question should i do the sequeins with the seed beads on the halter strap as well or just scatter beads up there as well? i'm thinking the sequins.

i will add pictures from the even as my boyfriend will be there with his camera :redface:
