Thread: Anyone made silk fans before?

I'm a big do-it-yourselfer (I even made my own Isis Wings, of which I'm very proud!!) so I thought it would be fun to make silk fans.
Problem is- the silk is turning out to be impossible to find! The few places that stock it only has granny-print flowers on the end of a roll.
Do you ladies know of anything that will flow like silk, or should I just suck it up and keep searching?

I managed to successfully glue chiffon to a fan base, and it as mildly OK, but not a project I am in any rush to repeat. Let's just say, this is an opportunity to support those who worked hard to acquire a skill I don't have ;-)

I've been wanting to make fan veils as well but am having trouble finding nice quality staves. :( Can anyone help me out there? :) I'm looking for the sturdy, lighter, polished wood kind.
