Thread: Good source for iridescent chiffon?

I would love some of this, but they only sell it in 25 yard increments - http://www.maiajacobsfabrics.com/cgi...dcopy%252ehtml

Some of these are very pretty - Dress fabrics, silk brocade fabrics, Silk Chiffon fabric,iridescent silk chiffon, fair trade silk fabrics but I would love to find something under $10/yard.

Any leads?

exotic silks (wholesale) or its retail store Thai silks have really amazingly beautiful irridescent silk chiffons. I have not bought yardage, I just got samples of it recently.

It is *very* light weight though, more like silk gauze. It might be difficult to work with, and a skirt made from it might be wispy rather than voluminous.

I know I have seen some at G Street fabrics, but I am pretty sure it was more than $10/yard.

I'll have to check it out during one of their sales. Even when you make them yourself, those circle skirts can get pricey! Definitely makes me appreciate the full skirts with some of the Pharaonics styles.

There are two iridescent silk chiffon types that I've seen - one is 58 wide, a wee bit lighter, and cheaper ($12-14). The other is 45 wide, slightly heavier and more pricey. It is wonderful fabric!

Yes, I have seen and purchased some iridescent chiffon from G Street Fabrics. Since you are nearby Kiyanna you should check them out. Sign up for the e-mail list and you get coupons for their sale - usually 20% off 1 item or $10 of $50 purchase, etc. I live my veil and skirt I made from the silver iridescent chiffon I got there. At the location in Falls Church it's on the border or the decorator fabric area.

Somebody bring me the smelling salts! That is so gorgeous, I want to wrap myself and my entire house in that fabric.
