Stretched piercings, anyone?
Just wondering if any of you fabulous ladies and gents out there had any stretched piercings as well :)
My lobes are currently at 2g, and ideally I'd want to get up to 0g or 00g, but I seem to be a bit stuck right now.
Any advice out there for going up a size, aside from just sucking it up and shoving the earrings in?
Also, as far as jewelry, for everyday wear, Kaos softwear is amaaaaaaaaazing. I got a pair of eyelets that I could wear at work without worrying about anything shrinking or having earrings get caught on anything, and they are sosososo sooo comfortable, it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything. Also they let me wear the stuff I haven't been able to wear for awhile :) Which is nice, since I've been stuck with plain stainless steel stuff for a while.
Do you have any recommendations for awesome jewelry? :D I drool over the stuff at Organic Jewelry and Tawapa.

Re: Stretched piercings, anyone?
I don´t have any piercings currently-
but I just had to say that: You give good links, baby!;)
That site was like an ethnological museum full of wearable art to carry with pride(except for the Lotus Shoes)...and reminded me now of my friends grandmother.
She came from Eritrea and had these amazing tattoos on her neck that looked like black lace pattern that stretched to her lower lip.
(she was the coolest grandma EVER)

Yes I did and had to have them redone. They give you a local cut it through, then restitch together and a week or two later it can be peirced in another place near but not in the same hole. I had it done ten years ago and it was 650per ear.

emma: :D Thanks! Have to say, I'm hopeless when it comes to stuff like that. Noooo resistance whatsoever. The only thing keeping me from buying everything ever from Organic is the whole retail vs. wholesale thing :c One day! Onneeee day!
I also frequent the Red Camel, Deb has some pretty awesome stuff and is super nice :D

zahrah: I second the ouch D: That really sucks, I'm sorry you had to do that.

Re: Stretched piercings, anyone?
I stopped stretching my ears at 6g because I bought some pretties from Tawapa (opalite tiger lilies) and I want to get lots of wear out of them! I found that layering with teflon tape worked best for me when I wanted to go up a size, I don't like the thought of just shoving a bigger earring in .w.:
I buy most of my jewellery from Bodyartforms, they're good for cheap everyday stuff but I'd love to get some of their more expensive stuff some day.

Oooh, opalite stuff is so pretty (at least in the pictures!) Does it really have that awesome sort of glowy quality to it in real life?
I got/get most of my everyday/plain stuff from King's Body Jewelry (King's Body Jewelry, 18 gauge - 2 inch plugs, eyelets, organic & more..)

Re: Stretched piercings, anyone?
I went from normal pierced ears to 00 in three months. DO NOT force them PLEASE! I did and ended up with some small tears and soreness. Thank goodness I avoided infection by being religious about cleansing (about the only thing I'm religious about, heh heh). The jewelry you use to stretch is very important: I used the tapered horseshoe shaped pieces that are held on by small O rings (you can buy these at the hardware store). The teflon (plummer's) tape to wrap the middles with between jumps for a more gradual stretch. It doesn't look that cool though you get a MUCH nore comfortable jump to the next gauge.
I tried tapers and found trying to stretch all at once was potentially bad. The gradual stretching while wearing the steel thingies (somebody help me our here, talons?) went smoothly and painlessly.
Remember to take your time, give it at least a week between jumps, and don't wear any natural materials until your ears are fully healed. Clean them like crazy too. Sea salt soaks and mild antibacterial soap work well.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Oh! I wanted to add that lubing up anything you're using to stretch your piercings is a good idea. A & D ointment works well and is very soothing.
The name of the jewelry I stretched my lobe with is 'pincer.'

Doozer: I've been at 2g for a month or so now, so I think it's pretty healed by this point xD The smaller ones I kinda rushed through, though, wish I kinda wish I didn't, but oh well. I might need to get some of that tape, because the 0g earrings I have just don't want to go in.
Emma: I knooow, all of the jewelry is just so awesome! I keep telling myself 'just one more size!' and then I stumble across some jewelry site, and then it's all over from there.

I liked using the tapered pinchers for stretching with lots of lube and sea salt soaks.
I've been at a 6g for two years now and don't think I'm going to go any bigger, unless I get inspired by some pretty jewelry. lol

Re: Stretched piercings, anyone?
I was at the Doctor's office when a guy came in with small infected tears in his lobes that lead to abscessed cysts. They had tried many treatments, the last resort was to cut away his lobes to the cartilage. He was a tattoo artist and piercer - he was thankful to rid of the infection but then he was missing both ear lobes.

I'm happy at a 4g - it may not be something to wear for very long, but if you are COMPLETELY healed, and around a 4g, you can wear glow stick bracelets as hoop earrings.
I also love BodyArtForms, I've been pleased with them. I've also bought from Lobal Domination on ebay, they have good deals and fast shipping.
