    isn't she cute? i love her costume (great colors, and fabric!). and her jewelry. and her henna!!

    but i really wanna know where she gets her jewelry.

    Oh! That's Maral, she dances with Shades of Araby and is a totally kick-ass costumer. That _is_ meant to be Mata Hari and she made it all herself. I had the pleasure of meeting her back when I was slinging henna at the Dragon Con Art show. Her personality is just as lovely as her face and fancy duds.

    Hey, it's me! Thanks for the kind words, everybody!

    I've been costuming at sci-fi, fantasy and anime conventions for over 10 years, and actually got into tribal style bellydance because of the costumes ;D. I didn't use to like the glitz of Egyptian Cabaret costumes (I liked them on other people, just not for me) but ever since spending months with Mata Hari's shiny filigree and rhinestones, I find the sparklies seducing me more and more. LOL

    The butterfly dress Sarah linked is my most recent project; I've been dreaming of a Morpho butterfly gown for years but had a hell of a time finding the right fabric.

    For Mata Hari I used very similar filigree pieces to the ones posted by kiyaana, as well as bits of old costume jewellery. I expected her to be a very obscure costume, but to my surprise was recognized by several people.
