    dear poodle hair sisters...

    I've found the solution!

I have very poofy hair. i wash, condition, brush in the morning and it looks like i have a long haired poodle sleeping on my scalp. I have a lot of body in my hair, which weighs down the top, making a "slope of poof" effect.

I have discovered a remedy called Loreal EverPure Sulfate Free conditioner!! I wash my hair with regular shampoo and then put just a little baby bit (maybe a quarter size, even with my hair size) of the special conditioner in my hands and rub it all together. Then work it through my lower half and brush out my wet hair. Then, don't rinse, leave it in.

This morning, I woke up and my hair looks FABULOUS!! It's still volumnous but looks sooo much more tame, and with no product! it's shiny and very soft.

So, fellow poodle hair ladies, try it out!!

Just thought I'd share it with my bhuzzards ..g.:

eden_eyes, thanks for that tip. I will try this product as soon as I get the chance.

BTW, doesn't using a brush in your hair make it even more poofy? I have read that brushing makes curly hair like mine hard to manage. That might apply to your poofy hair as well.

I'm a straight-haired poodle. (A labradoodle?) So maybe I should give this a try when my existing shampoo runs out. Thanks for the tip!

Ohhhh.... I will have to check this out! Good timing, too, as I'm almost out of my Herbal Essences "None of Your Frizzness" shampoo and conditioner. ;)

yeah brushes do make wavy or curly hair almost completely unmanageable! it may not have any knots left, but it looks like a total fro. Which is why brushing your hair in the shower and not in the morning (I just run a comb through it in the AM) is the way to go for us :)

And I love Herbal Essence! i'm almost done with "Totally Twisted"

Have you tried not brushing/combing at all? As I understand it, that plus the sulfate free products have turned many frizzy heads into ringlets and smoother waves. One of my dance partners has hip-length ringlets. She washes her scalp with conditioner and then leaves the ringlets undisturbed. I believe she only combs occasionally before washing.

I don't brush my hair...can you guess why my name is Petite FiFi? Yup, it is the hair and I do bark a lot.

It's always fun to share these sorts of discoveries. :)
We've got a couple threads on this- search under "curly girl" and you find them.
Basic tips include- no sulfates, no non-water soluble 'cone products, wide tooth comb in the shower only, lots of conditioner... and lots of other tips that vary from person to person.

I am a curly girl myself with thick 3c and 4a curls. In addition to avoiding sulfates, you also want to stay away from silicones. And NEVER brush your curls when dry. The best website out there for girls of all curl types is naturallycurly.com

Great forums, product reccos and science behind taking care of our hair that until recently, has pretty much been ignored in the beauty industry.
