which makeup with red, silver and black?

So, I'm coming to you girls because in 10 days we'll do our "show of the end of the year" - my first one in this town, in MY town...

That means that my family will come, my friends, some of my colleagues, some of my students will be there!!!!!

    (do you notice I'm a little - very nervous? ..c:: )

As I still don't have the money to buy a beautiful-Bella-Of-My-Dreams, I made (I'm making, coz it's not finished yet) my own costume... Red, with silver for the bra and the belt and the skirt will be black...

1st step done (or quite done) : the costume
2nd step : now I have to think about HOW to make up and to hair-dress (?) ... the final step will be if I wear earings, necklace, etc...

So, here I am, looking for advice, ideas... may I precise that I have brown hair with brown eyes and have a pale skin

PS: thanks for reading, and excuse my english, the words in italic mean I'm not sure of the translation

    Well, I always like more!

I like lots of rhinestones, dangly earrings and necklace. I love upper arm things like snakes in rhinestones, etc... I always wear bracelets and bangles.

Perhaps smoldering dark eyes with black eyeliner with pop of silver shadow in middle of eyelid. Perhaps a bit of silver sparkle eyeliner or black sparkle to eyeshadow. Fake eyelashes. You could add a little diamond accent to the side of each eye with glue.

Add a diamond type bindhi too.

How about a big red rose behind one ear? I have long hair so I wear flowers a lot. Kinda my thing.

    Hot red lips!

Hello! Everything what PetiteFifi said, and maybe add some red eye kandy? I did see some at Walmart.

If you don't have much money, look at the Coastal Scents eyeshadow pallets on Amazon.com. You can get 88 colors for US$20-25. This is my go-to eyeshadow set (I got the Metal mania and the Shimmer pallet, but I am thinking of getting earth tones and/or matte as well) TONS of extremely vibrant colors. I have to apply very very carefully since they go on so well.

For ideas, I love Lauren Luke's YouTube website for lots of outrageous eye makeup ideas. Do a google search for "red black eye makeup" and maybe "video" and find something you like. The Coastal Scents colors will substitute for all that MAC makeup that most folks use.

I would go for dark browns/black with accents of red, and lots of silver eye liner on the inner eye, sparkly mascara, bindis, and glitter!

I think it is more important to consider the stage conditions than the color of the costume when choosing makeup. Will you be on stage at a theater with full stage lighting or in a small room with normal lighting? The first case requires different and more exaggerated makeup than the second.

I like to choose makeup colors that are flattering and somewhat natural looking. Some dancers prefer a retro-Egyptian (Eye of Horus) look with very heavy eyeliner and lots of exaggerated eye shadow, while others feel more comfortable with a less "costume-y" approach. With the colors of costuming you have chosen, I think it would be difficult to match your makeup to what you are wearing without looking like a reject from a David Bowie video circa his Klaus Nomi period or a Soviet propaganda poster, so personally, I would go for something more natural looking like plums or browns for the eye, and cheek and lip colors that are darker shades of your natural lip and blushing colors. It is tempting to try to match the lipstick and blush to the red of the costume, but this can come off as too "matchy-matchy" or just a bad color choice for your complexion, depending on whether the red of the costume and your skin have warm or cool undertones. I usually just ignore the costume and pick colors that tend to look good regardless of what I'm wearing.

You didn't say what style of dance you are doing, but that can be a factor, too. Since you mentioned Bella, I assume you are doing a nightclub-style belly dance performance, and audiences expect that kind of dancer to look glamorous. Someone doing a folkloric number or an ATS performance would want to look less "done up" and more "ethnic." A modern tribal dancer can get away with more avant garde, extreme styling. This same approach is true for hair styles.

Jewelry is part of the overall costume. Some dancers go for a lot of everything, and others are more conservative in their selection of number and style of their pieces of jewelry. You want to look like you are fully dressed, and that you have a sense of wearing jewelry that goes with the occasion and the rest of your outfit.

We'll be on stage at a theater

..l;, I LoOoOoOOve David Bowie and especially this period, but would die if someone say I look like him

And I definitely will fell more confortable using a more natural make up... that's exactly why I asked this question... It seemed really difficult to me to match the make up with the costume...

You're right, we're doing a kind of night-club style belly performance... But you remember me I still have difficulties to describe the style we dance... Must study more :)

Thanks for your good advices Tourbeau :)

Thanks to Fahimi, NaimahJannah and petitefifidance too , but I think I'm not ready- or I don't feel like- having an extravagant make up :)

I think a "hollywood retro" look would look really nice. As others have said, nuetral eye shadow with definitive ( but not Cleopatro) liner, soft cheeks, and retro red lips. Lots of rhinestone jewellery. With a red/black costume, a smoky eye might look too goth, unless that is what you want.

That is essentially the make-up look I rocked although I did use some soft silver eye-shadow in the mix!

No, no goth for me... I think I'll make an eye liner, but still thinking about a retro red lipstick (I've just bought, it's lOoOoOoOvely but I'm afraid will be too much)

    :)

If you're buying eyeshadow and can't afford to spend much, still try to buy one of the Mac "Paint Pots" to use as the base underneath from brow to lash if you can afford it (about $16). Does wonders to help blending and prevent creasing.
