A hipscarf that just won't stay on... (suggestions, please!)

I know it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I paid good money for that hipscarf, and I would like to use it for an upcoming performance. It's a paillete (?) hipscarf made with a very silky, sheer material (it doesn't say what kind). I've tried to wear this hipscarf at least 4 times, and no matter how tight I tie it, it slides off. That's just what I need during a performance! I've had it for awhile--I've just given up on it until now.

Any suggestions? I'm not a costume genuis, but I can use a sewing machine! I'll be wearing it over a beledi dress which has a rather smooth feel also.

    Thanks in advance!

Could you sew some snaps to the scarf and the beledi dress to help hold it in place?

You could sew a length of grosgrain ribbon on the upper edge. Attach a hook on the ribbon or, if your fluctuate in size at all, leave enough length to tie one. To wear it, you first tie or hook the ribbon, then tie the actual scarf.

That chiffon-y stuff is really slippery, and seems to want to slide, no matter what.

That's what I do, too. It takes all four pins to be safe - front, back, and each side.

    yes to the grosgrain idea.
i've atted some elastic ties to the closure part, tie them, then hide them under the pretty ties of the scarf. it adds grip and doesn't hurt the fabric.
if the fabric is delicate, i'd personally be afraid of pins.
