Where do you buy your jewelry?
I'm in the market for some really BIG bling-y sparkly earrings, bracelets, necklaces, etc. I used to shop at forever 21 for cheap costume jewelry, but I try not to buy from them any more, their stuff breaks way too easily!
Can y'all point me in the direction of some online (inexpensive) jewelry places? I'm open to brick and mortar places too as long as I can find them in the Dallas area!

Re: Where do you buy your jewelry?
BIG BLINGY? Get thee to your nearest Indian fabric/jewelry shop. Seriously. Indian shops have the best bling. And not just Indian bling but all sorts of bling. (And not just bling, but BLING, if you get my drift. :) )

Yeah, I went to an Indian boutique in Orlando and dropped $300 on mad sparkles. Those places have the best bangles and huge blingy earrings!

Ebay has some good finds. Search for "drag queen necklace" and you'll find some nice stuff.
Our own Bhuzer Latifa also has a thread in the retail swap meet. Her pieces are fabulous, though not necessarily cheap.

No, it was this place called Prerana's Beauty & Boutique. It was in an Indian strip mall, right next to an Indian video store and an Indian grocery store. They had the biggest selection of Indian jewelry and formalwear and the nicest sales staff. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

I LOVE this place and luckily here in TX we actually have physical locations! But I can speak from owning it that it makes for GREAT BD bling!
Handbags, Luggage, Fashion Jewelry, Sterling Silver - sammoon.com One off 635 & Harry Hines!
You can order online if you don't live in the area!

Ohhh thanks Nadirah! And I don't know why I didn't think of Indian stores before. I can't wait to visit home (California) because there is a super awesome Little India out there.

Re: Where do you buy your jewelry?
A girl at work showed me stuff she got at a costume shop in Lakewood CO that was awesome. I got a ton of bangle-y thin bracelets at Charlotte Russe for cheap but had to go through them to find ones that weren't already broken. Otherwise I raided my mom's old jewelry and keep an eye out at funky stores (second hand, etc.) I found some incredible beaded bracelets at Rockmount Western Wear this weekend.... but couldn't justify dropping the cash at the moment.

Re: Where do you buy your jewelry?
I always go to ebay it seems and search rhinestone necklaces and find some of the Chinese vendors, they are cheap (10-15 a necklace/ earring set) though they fade in about 3 months of wear (3 months of 2-3 shows a night 3 nights a week though) but they do not break as long as you're reasonable with them and are big enough for some bling without being so big you feel like you are suffocating. I see the same sets in "ghetto" or cheap stores for 3 times the price!

Re: Where do you buy your jewelry?
all of the indian stores i've seen in the US are overpriced...well i guess they're catering for US dollars....here in Trinidad, we have endless Indian stores because more than half our population is Indian by descent, like myself.
We have lots of Indian expos where they sell jewelry cheaper than i've seen in any store in America.
If you show me some specific examples of the kinds of things you like in terms of bangles, earrings, necklaces I can do a little bargain hunting for you =)

Re: Where do you buy your jewelry?
An Ebay search for kundan, bollywood jewelry, and meena* will send any sparkle-conscious bellydancer into a state of severe hyperventilation and over-spending ;-)

There is a catalog called: The Pyramid Collection, they also have some nice sets. They should have a website.
