    Should I chop up this Hannan dress into a 2 piece?

    Okay, so my friend had this for sale for a looonnnggg time on the swap page with no bites. I also had a costume that would not sell, she liked mine, I figure I'm no worse off with hers, so we swapped.

    Black isn't my color so I never intended to keep this. Plus it is way too long for me.

    I think it is the cut of the dress that is not attracting any interest. It cuts down to just below the waist, and I think most people want the hips emphasized.

    In order to sell it, I am thinking I should chop it up and make a bra/skirt out of it. Also add a few fringies around the hip.

    Opinions?

    What size is it? (I have a silver one kind of like this that I love, but it's a little too short for me.)

    I wouldn't cut it if it was mine.

    Hi Karnak:

    I would say it fits 6-10. I'm a 6 and it fits me except for the length. My friend is somewhere between an 8 and 10 I think, and around 5'9". Bra cups are C-ish.

    If you are interested I would love to sell it to you. It comes with a headband and a gauntlet for the bare arm. The adornments are silver and irridescent green/peacock beads and sequins, and a sprinkling of rhinestones.

    You could cut it in two, but how does it look if you photoshop the arms onto opposite sides of the torso? It feels sort of unbalanced with the fuller side of the dress having the sleeve, and I'm wondering if it would look better with the cuff on the dress side and the sleeve on the bra-and-belt side. I'm not sure how you would keep that sleeve up by itself (even off the top and elasticize the edge?), but if that worked, it would be less effort than cutting the dress apart.

    I couldn't get the facebook photos to open (check the privacy filter). I still wouldn't cut it because if the buyer wants a two-piece, she can always get the surgery done on her own. You also won't get paid for your time unless you raise the price.

    Except 1) its been around the swap page many times and there is no buyer and 2) most dancers would not have the nerve to cut an expensive costume, nor are most willing to take on a project.

    this is true. ,f::

    But I need to sell it.

    Yes! Do it! You've waited long enough for someone to buy it!

    Before you chop, I just wanted to say I love this dress! If it weren't silver (which I don't wear at all) I would have bought it a long time ago. Instead I had Eshta make me one in chocolate and brown!!

    I seriously can't believe it hasn't found a happy home yet.
