Thread: Where to find THIS kind of hip scarf?

I'm looking for something small, with a short fringe, preferably sparkly but I'd be OK if it weren't, just like the ones Sandra wears in her instructional DVDS:





Do hip scarves like this have a special name? All the ones I've seen have coins and the like and make too much noise in class. This is probably a really basic question, but thanks for helping out a newbie!

I've definitely seen these with other vendors. When I have more time later I'll look up a few and post links. Are you looking for U.S. vendors, or elsewhere?

Oh, like, here's one with beaded fringe, too, though the loops on the one you show are more common to find. More later.

yeah, single row beaded scarf seems to be the common name- tho I've seen them called a Serena scarf too- I've recieved good quality ones from both Dahlal and Sharifwear

Tourbeau's is definitely the closest, something with less rather than more fabric/length would be preferable. I'm in the US, if that makes a difference. I'd love to be able to pick a size, because my hips are so skinny and gobs of extra fabric tied up in the knot or hanging down below my knees makes me look like a kid playing dress-up. ..c::

Yeah, that's the right idea, but I wish it weren't so darn LONG in the back! Something that doesn't hang down to my knees.

I use the back as the side and take a stitch or two there, gathering the extra fabric into a nice drape.

Fold it from the middle into 2 sections, such that you have 2 lines of beading. Then wrap it around your hips and it won't be so long. I'd also pin it, instead of just knotting it - it'll make the scarf last longer and you won't break the beading over time.
