    Color Theory, Makeup, Color Matching

This is a great article summarizing color theory, color selection, and suggests matching cosmetic colors to clothing, not hair/eye color:

Oh! I do that already! (probably because I'm addicted to eye makeup and need a reason to have more colors--I mean, if I matched my eyes, I'd need just a few boring browns or pinks like the makeup manufacturers put out for brown-eyed people, right? Blegh!)

There is one company that hideously makes a set of blue eyeshadow for blue eyes. That is so ridiculous to me that I've avoided buying any of their other stuff because I question the rest of their products. I'm probably missing out on some nice stuff, but then there's plenty of other quality products around too.

Yeah, they're probably the same ones that market pink for brown eyes. PINK eyeshadow? I always gave it a wide berth, afraid it'd make me look like I had conjunctivitis....I mean, in movies when someone is sick with a fever, don't they always put pink/red eye makeup on them??

It depends on the shade of pink.

Real good informative article, thanks for sharing. I worked in an arts & crafts store and if i didn't know some color theory I would be no help to customers and picking out art paint. I also have a mini color wheel on hand for my beading and with my makeup can't have too many eye shadows.

Interesting...I almost always wear pink eyeshadow for shows because it is one of the few colors that looks reliably good on me in person and in photos. I also like that bright pink can go with so many of my costumes!

I love the bright pink and intense magenta eye shadows. The only thing that worries me about them is that the ones I have tried stay on the skin even after removal. That intensity of red pigment scares me a bit...

I have golden brown eyes and love orange, brick red, teal, charcoal, cobalt blue and yellow. Black, black, black eyeliner (love Ben Nye cake) and the good old pink with green cap black mascara.

Right now my hair is jet black, probably part of the reason these intense colors are so appealing.
