Thank goodness blue eyeshadow is back! It always makes my blue eyes bluer. Running out to get some new shadows...g.:

Am I the only one who has very odd psychological associations with blue eyeshadow? You know, Mimi from the Drew Carey Show, the crazy 80's, or being 6 years old and getting into your mom's makeup stash and making yourself look like a complete hot mess ..l;,

That being said, NARS makes a really cool eyeshadow duo called Rated R. It's chartreuse and ultramarine blue. I'm really into it lately. Looks insane in the pallete, but wears like a dream!

I'm terrified of blue eye shadow because of Mimi!

I love turquoise, electric blue or royal blue shadow or liner. Emerald Green eye make up rocks also!

You're not alone Satin... I'm getting flash backs from adolescent jazz dance recitals. Blue eyeshadow, red lips and hair curled to within an inch of it's life doing the funky chicken in a bright yellow costume. I'm too scarred for this trend I think.

I'm not buying it, methinks they are having a bet each way when the link at the bottom (posted only in June 2010) mentiones summer makeup trend: monochromatic colour.

Can't you just see the discussion?
Editor: ok, guys, in June we said people should go monochromatic makeup. we need a story for July...what can it be?
    Intern: well...the opposite is colour....
    Editor: done!

I have the same reaction Satin! LOL Nanda! I'm glad I missed that recital...
But dark blue could work for a smoky eye like this:

Seriously, I have terrible memories of being 8 years old and my mom caking bright blue shadow on my lids, all the way to the brow. The smell of Ponds Cold Cream brings back similarly weird flashbacks, because that's the only way my mom could remove my Mini-Mimi eyeshadow.

But talk about childhood WTFusion - we had to wear colorful raincoats with leotards underneath, and tap dance to "It's Raining Men." ..l;,

Did blue eye shadow ever go out of style for belly dancers? I thought the big, old "Horus Eye" makeup was always an option, especially if you liked retro costumes and big hair.

Just got the Chocolate and Navy pallette from Bobbi Brown, and I love it. The navy is very nearly black and makes a gorgeous, gorgeous liner. My eyes are gunmetal grey, but boy do they go blue in a hurry when I put that on!

i love colorful eye shadows, but use them in the corners of my eye or as eyeliner to make em pop. a sapphire blue makes hazel green eyes really pop. great alternative to black eyeliner ;)

I really like blue eyeshadow/liner. I've never been a fan of that particular "mimi blue" shade but I like navy and royal blues a lot. I also like various turquoise colors. It can be really easy to go overboard though....

I love blue eye shadow, all shades. It can also be stunning on olive or darker skin tones. There is a Vegas pic of the NDC with blue eye shadow that I love. Thanks for posting this Azh!

I have to agree with Lotus. Blue shadow looks great on brown skin and with brown eyes. Wonderful contrast. I have blues of every shade - I especially love dark navy or midnight shades, and turquoises.

I need to get myself a really good turquoise eye liner (or shadow I can use wet as eyeliner). A good thick line on my upper lid is my favorite way of using the really bright colors that I have a hard time pulling off as a whole-eye look. I already do that with a forest green that I love. I'm also wondering if I'd like a rich cobalt blue liner, since I've recently discovered that much to my surprise, I do look good wearing clothes that color.

Blue comes in many shades!! Give the Mimi visual some brain bleach and have fun with the color.

Does this replace the makeup advice accepted over the last few years NOT to use blue shadow with blue eyes?

No. At least not in this makeup artist's opinion. If you want to play up the blue of your eyes, it's best to go in the opposite direction. Go for brown and bronze shades - those will make the blue of your eyes pop.

No, it's completely ok to use blue for blue eyes. It just depends on the shade of blue you choose. I can't remember which drugstore brand... Almay? did some push in 2005 where you buy their eye makeup sets based on your own eye color, and the blue eyed palate is coppers and blues. It's still in stores, I think.

Zorba- have I said before that I really love your style? That outfit is the perfect blend between glamour and masculinity. I covet the trousers too.

I need to psych myself up for blue eye makeup. I keep having flashbacks of childhood dance recitals!

It was good enough for Princess Diana and now your First Lady so.....!
Me..it's toned down to smoky navy, grey -blue although I own up to having MAC electric eel for the bellydancer in me.

I love a really bright, vivid turquoise on the inner side of my eye, with a deep purple on the outer corner, and then blend into a sparkly nude under the brow... Sounds weird, but it does look really good. Makes my eyes look almost black though, whereas I prefer them to look nice and hazel... >.< Stupid colour changing eyes.
