    WWBD - Hair Dilemma

In September I'm dancing at a competition and in two very different categories and wondering what to do about my hair/wig options.

I'm doing a fusion piece first - complete with farting robot music and was thinking about rockin' the short blue/purple hair that I normally have on my head (figure it matches the dance/music style better). No biggie right?

but then I'm dancing in the Live Music category and was going to be switching costumes and not doing a fusion style. The wig looks great with the costume, and completes the elegant dancer look.

Although the judging is separate for each category is that going to be too strange to do such a presto chango from one set to the next? (The catogories are back to back) It's still going to be pretty obvious that its me (very visible tattoos).

Am I too worried about a small detail? lol

I think it sounds reasonable and fun. You would change your costume to fit the different style - I see no problem with also changing your hair and/or makeup.

nope not a small detail at all. hair is a critical part of the total package presentation. for quick change situations, i highly recommend wigs. if your hair is short enough and you can wear a full wig. you can:
wear your natural hair for the fusion piece. then pop on a wig cap, full wig (prestyled and sprayed hard as a rock of course;) and quickly pin on using some large roller pins in the x method. also make sure to sew in some toupee clips to the front center, each temple and in bottom back for quick attachment security. good luck!

Toupee clips made my life so much easier with the wig! I used to be able to pin up my hair underneath and then pin to it like crazy but then I chopped more of it off. So wig caps and the clips became my best friends (after the wig of course). I love having glam hair I don't have to fight with. ..g.:

I switched hairstyles for a show last year. I had my regular hair for the troupe numbers, and then for my solo I had Cleopatra wig. (My teacher was looking at my hair and wondered how I got the gold braided into my hair, and it took her at least ten minutes to realize that I was wearing a wig!) Go for the hairdo change if it will make your look more complete.

I think it would show that you had a strong sense of presentation and what was appropriate. Different looks for different pieces just makes sense to me.

Like everyone else said: absolutely! If you're changing costumes, consider the hair to be part of your costume. I could see where it might look strange if you had same costume, different hair, but if everything is changing, then it's definitely fine. Would you think it strange to simply change hair STYLES with a costume change? Probably not....this is the same thing!

Thanks for all the input! I am definitely donning the wig for the second piece and feel pretty good about appropriately costuming for different styles.

    Now to keep practicing!
