    The eyes have it...

    Just curious...
I love to wear false eyelashes...but sometimes those buggers just don't cooperate! I've watched Azhia's video and love the technique, however I find that the lashes I have immediate access to in stores seem very stiff and was wondering what brands might be better even if I had to order them?

    Hi,
    I love Azhia's DVD!

I use the ones I find at the drugstore.
Did you roll them back and forth?

Yeah...but it just seems like they are stiff? and they don't hold the rolled form? I love that video too! I have days where they gone on lickity split...then other days I'm literally sweating to get them on...and on those days...I know they're not going to last or feel comfortable?

    Hmm.
I've had days like that, don't know if it's the weather, or me.
I hope someone that has tried many different brands chimes in here.
I've seen lashes wrapped around a pencil....but I'm not sure if it was to make them more subtle or not.
I would also like to find something online that looks....'natural'.

I've used Ardell and several no name brands and haven't noticed too much difference between them. The Halloween types that we all love are stiffer though. So, here's my trick with lashes:

I buy the rounded styles that don't have a right or a left so when I cut them in half there are actually two pairs from one. From there I simply apply them to the outer corners of my own lashes and the benefit is that they are comfortable and so much easier to put on.

Azhia's dot of glue on the back of her hand trick really does help. GOOD GLUE is so important, and don't keep the same tube for years. I replace mine every six months or so because it's no fun getting ready to dance only to find your glue isn't working.

Oh! Another trick...knead the tube a bit before you use it. Glue that has separated doesn't have any gripping power.

Make sure you flex the band and make sure the band isn't too long. In many cases the bands need to be bent - some say broken - in order to better fit the curve of the individuals eye as opposed to the carton. If the band is too long, it'll be very difficult to get on!

When you say "around a pencil"...do you mean they are stored that wayfor shape? I might have to try that! The ones I find around here (Ardell) have like a "wire" for shape, but that wire is somewhat visible...maybe only to me though?

    Hi,
Sorry, it's taken me a while to find this thread again.

No, I don't think they are stored that way.
They wrapped the lashes around lengthwise, to make the base (wire), a bit more curved.

Have you had success with wearing lashes?

I find that false eyelashes are just longer, not thicker. When I wear them, I can't tell much difference. The thicker ones (like Ardell's) -usually called "demi" I assume because they are shorter- are nice but then not long enough.

I like a really retro eye, like in the 60's where the lash was really cat like and thick as well as long. like Tina Louise as Ginger on Gilligan's Island. (come to think of it, Maryanne had the thick, black lashes too....)

Where do ya find lashes like those? Not long clown spiky lashes.
