New Products You've Recently Tried? Summer 2010

I learn so much every time we have a new products thread. I get so overwhelmed by all of the beauty products out there. If you have a blog about such things, please share!

I really like these: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Neutrogena-Make-Up-Cleansing-Towelettes-25-Count/dp/B001E96NYS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1280004049&sr=8-3]Amazon.com: Neutrogena Make-Up Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Refill Pack…[/ame] I decided to try them when they were on sale a few weeks ago. They're great for after-gig make-up removal since they really do remove waterproof mascara. Handy for traveling, too.

I just bought this from Ross for about $14: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-11510-4-Shelf-Garment/dp/B000R8E8OE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1280004611&sr=8-1]Amazon.com: Hamilton Beach 11510 4-Shelf Garment Drying Station, White: Home & Garden[/ame] I haven't tried it, yet, but Suzana recommended it to me and I think it will be especially handy for drying costumes in this HUMID weather we've been having.

BIG fan of Incoco nail strips...they're essentially a dry nail polish that you put on like a big 'sticker' that lasts about 1.5 weeks with NO chipping! They claim to last 2 weeks...which has happened a few times...but mostly I can claim to wear them a full week with no issues...the French manicure is especially fab!!!

Ooooo, that reminds me, I have recently tried nail polish remover pads and really like them. I bought them while on vacation since I didn't want a whole container of liquid remover (plus wouldn't be able to take it home on the plane). Does a MUCH better job than regular remover w/a cotton ball.

I really like that garment dryer! Especially at Ross for $14.

Loving, LOVING Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner. Softest pencil liner ever, gorgeous colors and finishes. It's blendable for a few seconds and then it stays and stays and stays.

I like the Hard Candy Powder Keg loose eye shadows. I took a couple of makeup classes this summer that required loose shimmer eye shadow, and I like these.

    Cheap skate find:

Wet n' Wild Megalength mascara (dark blue tube). I never thought I'd like those rubbery bristle type brushes but wow, very nice even application. The formula of this mascara isn't waterproof but is smudgeproof. The black is very black and at three bucks, it's a great find. Right now you can find packages with a dollar off so it's really inexpensive!

My other favorite is raw coconut oil...does a bang up job of healing dry skin (my youngest has allergies and eczema) and removing heavy makeup. It also works very well as a dry hair/scalp treatment (you have to shampoo it out). You have to keep it in the fridge where it solidifies. When you want to use some you just hack off a chunk with a butter knife and go to town. It melts at body temperature so you just smoodge it in your hands before you use it. Smells sooooo yummy too.

    Bete Noire Femme Eye Glitter

    Best. Glitter. Ever.

She's closing shop soon though so if you want some, get it now! Seriously, they're the most amazing glitter I own and it's great for performances and layering over eyeshadow with a little bit of Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy.

I am slowly moving to Jane Iredale cosmetics. I really like them, but I'm not much of an expert.
They are sold at my hair salon and the prices are comparable to Clinique.

Okay, this intrigued me. I've never been able to wear nail polish because it lifts off, like a paint job with no primer, even if I wear a basecoat.

I went looking for it at Walgreens and they didn't have it, but they did have a similar product by Sally Hansen. I'm wearing it now and I will report back as to whether it stays on or not.

I've tried the Sephora version and it didn't fly...interested to hear about the Sally Hansen...I couldn't find it near me...Incoco's the only one I've used...if they're not in a mall near you, that link will let you order online!

Josie Maran Argan Oil! I had always been picky about my facial products but this stuff is addictive and people keep asking about my skin! They also make it into a highly protective sunscreen that I love!

I remember a previous thread mentioning Revlon Photo Finish foundation. How does it hold up for performing? Perspiring?

So far, so good. I'm going to put some on and go out for a walk this afternoon -- that'll be the real test. It's hot out there!

A walk outside today should be a good test! Real feel is 114 degrees.

My life-altering beauty discovery this summer was the fake ponytail. A perfect, humidity-resistant hairdo in less than 5 minutes? LOVE it! Last weekend when I danced in 95-degree weather at 95% humidity, it was so nice to have my hair off my face and fuzz-free. I have no idea how I did all of those outdoor gigs without one!

I'm also in love with MAC lipsticks in Bombshell and Pink Nouveau, as well as the Glitz glitters from The Team Image. (I get it at the dance store in FL).

    Most disappointing product, hands-down, was BeneFit's That Gal primer. Of course it has a warm, luminous effect on your skin when you're in a store illuminated by warm, glowy boudoir pink lightbulbs! When I brought it home, it did pretty much nada and was a huge waste of $26. Then again, I find this to be true of most of BeneFit's products ,r:;

I tried Moom for the first time upon Azhia's recommendation from a long time ago. They sell it at ulta. I'm pretty pleased with the results and it was easy to use. It reminds me of those old sugaring kits that I had back in the early 90s. Why did those go out of style? Glad Moom is bringing it back.

[ame=http://www.amazon.com/Moom-Organic-Removal-Lavender-6-Ounce/dp/B000VS96KG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1280958176&sr=8-2]Amazon.com: Moom Organic Hair Removal Kit With Lavender, 6-Ounce Package: Health & Personal Care[/ame]

I also bought Maybelline Colossal Mascara after some bhuz talk. So far so good. I do like it better than the most recent kinds I've tried, Stiletto and Estee Lauder, but it's not perfect.

And finally I bought some LASplash prducts at Ulta. I like the nailpolish and it was on sale. It was weird though because I bought a hot pink and the color was called Blowfish Purple. I also bought an LASplash shadow kit in Enchanted Forest or something. I like the idea but I haven't tried it yet. I need an occasion!

L'Oreal Infallible Never Fail LipColour (2 part Lipcolour + Conditioning Top Coat )

My dental hygenist recommended it to me, after working on a patient wearing it and not smearing it in the hour she worked on her. This stuff stays on!

Maybe this is the perfect forum to ask about a couple of products I've been wanting to try lately.

Anybody try these and think they're worth it?
    Clarisonic?
    Barazilian Keratin Treatment (hair)?

Sally Hansen has a new "Insta-Dry Anti-chip top coat" i thought "it will never work" but it does!!! put polish on, wait 2 minutes, put the top coat on, in a few (5) minutes---your polish is set. i hadn't even been wearing nail polish cause it was such a pain---but this stuff is great and it does keep the polish on also for almost a week.

oh, I was suckered in by the cover girl ad featuring the delicious Drew Barrymore for the smoky eye kit. Thumbs down! totally lame, no pigment. don't bother- $9 down the tube, and to seal the deal the darker side broke off the 2nd time I tried it. will stick w/ Mac primer and shadow.

bain de terre recovery complex anti-frizz! LOVE!!! I live in a humid sub-tropic climate and have wavy medium coarse thick hair that tends to frizz at the slightest chance of precipitation, this stuff works wonders! lovelovelovelove!
I am also in the works or trying out Bio Oil after reading about it right here on Bhuz. So far I’m NOT a fan. I’ve tiny pores and this oil does not absorb just seems to slide off leaving my already abused expanding flesh feeling stretched. I think I’m going back to Coconut oil!

Coastal Scents HD Foundation. It's the first time I've ever had a foundation match my skin and I've tried a lot of foundations. It seems to wear pretty well, I put it on my oily forehead on a hot day and it lasted until I took it off. I would say the coverage is medium.
I think it's supposed to be a take off of Make Up Forever's HD foundation, but to me the texture seems somewhat similar to the FACE Atelier samples that I have.
