    Samina Pure Makeup

is the site I have been looking with great interest. Although I'm not Muslim, these products are attractive to those of us concerned with animal welfare and other issues.
I can't get that link to work, Azhia..is it the same?

There is no such thing as Halal make-up and the website does not claim it is Halal make-up (unless i missed something?)

Yes, I just took a good look at this new 'British' news.

I also read how many 'Islamic scholars' are disagreeing over this issue.

Make-up can be used in a 'free from' way without it becoming an issue of 'Halal or Istihala or Haram'. Perfume is mostly made from alcohol, and in Egypt pig fat is used to reduce 'piles' (bauaseer). Alcohol is also used medically.

One of my family said the next 'Fatwa' will be about a halal tennis racket..

I have always been told by my Muslim family that it is people who over complicate Islam... not the religion itself.

If there is a market for it, then it exists. i think it's an interesting concept.

    Re: Halal Cosmetics

There is business involved in most religions and dont we all know it.

At the end of the day, there is so much more to being a Muslim than worrying about whether or not their is alcohol in your mascara.

I have always been told that the most important things about being a Muslim is being a genuine and tolerant human being with good intentions for yourself and everyone around you. Not lying, swearing, cheating, talking bad about people and being a horrible person is so much more important to avoid. This is what genuine Muslims in my life care about, not themsleves and how good they look in Gods eyes and then treat everyone around them like crap.

    Re: Halal Cosmetics

Though as a non-Muslim non-churchgoing Christian and non-meat eater, I am interested in cosmetics that don't involve animal experimentation and certain additives.
It's been a good move to attract that wider spectrum.
If they are good quality and a good price, I'm always ready to support a small enterprising business.

Yes, this is why I said 'free from' does not have to mean 'Halal'.

This just appears to be about aiming the market at a particular audience. Almay appears to have been making 'Halal' cosmetics for years if that was the case, and so have many other companies.

    Re: Halal Cosmetics

So what's the difference between Halal cosmetics and vegan cosmetics? Just that it doesn't contain alcohol?
