Thread: Beading onto a body stocking

I have seen tons of new stuff out that has beading/sequins on the belly cover. I want to try this but I am scared of runs. I have put runs in some of my bellycovers due to pinning. How do you bead onto these without running them? Do you stretch them while beading?

Yes I would bead it while stretched, on a dress form or you could improvise some kind of frame. But also whether this is going to work without wrecking your fabric will depend on what kind of fabric you're working with. Power net is the really tough stuff.

yep- go for the super strong stuff & use a ball point needle & stretch.

btw- anyone got a lead on the really strong power net? last batch I got was advertised as power net, but not as sturdy as I am used to.

For sequin or rhinestone decorations, I think sometimes dancers just cheat and glue on the embellishments. If you stretch the fabric as you are working, choose the right adhesives, and follow the product guidelines to get good saturation and bonding, this is probably fine for anything but the highest demand costumes.
