Thread: Desert Swirl Upgrade - inspire me!!!

Here's the deal - I just purchased a Desert Swirl from Bellydancestore. It was actually in my size, and at under $200, I just couldn't pass it up. I would like to try and add more fringe on the skirt, and possibly around the bottom of the bra, but I need some inspiration.

I added sprigs of fringe to the belt and the bra. I also added high quality jewels scattered throughout the cups and upper area of skirt. Suddenly the simple but nice costume was OOAK and suited my needs. Desert Swirl costumes are a great option for such plans.

Congrats on your cossie purchase! You can add little chunks of fringe in spots all around. Add some stones/jewels. Add complimenting (different color) material to the bra for coverage and make it unique. Use the same material for a slit drape or at the top of the skirt.

Thanks! It's my first non-homemade cossie purchase, and I'm super excited!!! I also want to find a really nice belly cover to match it, if I can.

You could do fringe like Hanan does to her skirts... A pair of long bead strands at varying levels with interesting and contrasting larger beads at the end of each strand.

BTW... love what you did with your desert swirl JoLynn! especially the bra... nicely done!

Thanks! I would love to take the last bits of leftover material and make a belt to go with it someday when I have the time; adding a belt with some short fringe on it is another neat way to change the look of this costume.
You could even just add some fabric drapes across front and back with some big appliques at the hips if you don't want to go all out on making a belt. Throw in some poufy sleeves in the same fabric, and it's a whole new look!

Two words: SWAROVSKI CRYSTALS. a friend of mine got a swirl costume that just looked blah. she added bling and now i am utterly jealous of the awesome way it looks. throw in circle ab crystals into the loops and some small glue ons sprinkled throughout. to die for.

would love to see pics when you are done with your upgrade.

I really want some nice, big crystals. About what size should I look for?
