    Yellow stains...

I suck at housework, really. Took my daughter's white dress out of the cupboard, from last summer, it was fine. After she got it dirty at kindergarden I washed in the machine and after drying, the front had all yellow stains...I soaked it in water with bleach in it but they barely got more pale...

What are these stains? I have a nice white costume somewhere in a box, I never wore it. I'm even afraid to take it out now.

    I guess there's a beginner's lesson to be learnt - please help!

    Re: Yellow stains...

I adore Oxyclean for stains. My partner's dad once gave me this fantastic stuff too...naturally I can't remember what it was called; I just called it "that fantastic stain remover stuff." But I've never seen it in a store (he has a hotel so of course they order all sorts of cleaning stuff).

Are the yellow stains in the same places she got it dirty? Or do you think they came from the washing process, maybe something in the water, something else in the load, something in the machine, etc.?

It was like what happens to white clothes, but they only appeared after washing!

I'll be going to the dry cleaners asking them for advice. It's such a pretty dress, she was supposed to wear it on her first day in school, which will be in three weeks!

The drycleaners was shut. I tried in a row: washing white clothes with only a dishwasher tablet at 50 degrees Celsius: the other white clothes looked nice and fresh afterwards, but the yellow stains remained in the other dress. Bleach. Didn't work. Lemon juice! Yes it worked a bit! Now again bleach and 40 degrees, I hope the dress won't fall apart after it's dried now!

Mrs. Stewart&rsquos; Bluing available at The Vermont Country Store

My grandmother and mother swear by this stuff. You have to make sure not to use too much or your whites will turn slight blue, but you can wash it again and it will turn white. It works great!
