A most wonderful problem... (in green)

I received the most lovely gift! It's a vintage chiffon circle skirt (kelly green with gold beading all around the hem and slits) and a matching trimmed veil.

The only problem is that green isn't normally a color I wear. So I have absolutely nothing to go with it. I'm very pale, blue eyes, and dirty blonde hair. So I suppose green is fine on me. But my problem remains. What should I buy to wear with it?!?

My favorite color is blue, so I'd love it if there is a clever way to bring blue into the costuming. In case you wanted to know, I'm a medium hourglass with a nicely fleshy tummy, and I have some pretty good sewing and costume construction skills.

I welcome all suggestions! (I'd also welcome a gold vintage bedlah! )

wear it with a gold or silver bra belt set.

you can make a blue underskirt with matching arm bands to tie that color in.

    or a blue handkerchief skirt.

I hate to be such a dork, but what shades of blue go with kelly green? It's just... so... GREEN!

I would pair kelly green with a vibrant, sapphire blue. You could wear blue harem pants with it, and then it would make the chiffon look teal in the areas it overlaps.

I had a bedlah that was kelly green and a dark royal blue... the colors looked good together.

You could also do a hunter green bedlah to go with it. I have a kelly green and blue skirt that I wear with a hunter green and silver bedlah... it looks really good together. I'll try to get pics up when I can.

well, a good gold bedlah is good for wardrobe building no matter what, but I've been working on a water-inspired costume & pulled in lots of different blues & greens- the teal looks surprisingly nice next to the kelly, as does a touch of red or coral here & there (I'd post pictures, but I won't be done for another few years at the rate I'm going!)

The royal blue and green is an excellent color combination idea. It reminds me of azurite and malachite, two copper-based minerals often found together. Azurite's deep blue, and malachite is green.

    The answer is... floop.

You know... take the skirt to the fabric store. Everywhere you see a blue you like, floop the skirt over it. Royal? Floop! Navy? Floop! Sapphire? Floop! Aqua? Floop? If you find something you really like, get it to make an underskirt or panels or what have you. Or if you want to shop ready made, buy the smallest amount they'll sell you and use it for swatches to help you shop.

    There you go. Floop!

I have a silk veil that is blue & green and makes me think of what the Earth would look like from outer space. It's a beautiful color combo.
