    tthtsmiym!

Time To Help The Stupid Male In Your Midst!

Ok, so the leader of one of the troupes I'm in wants me to wear some lipstick on stage. Nothing garish, but something to highlight the lips.

I understand - and agree - but I *DETEST* the way lipstick feels. Yuck!

Any advice as to type/brand that minimizes the yucky feeling - and lasts "forever"? I'd rather it stained my lips and couldn't be wiped off than to have that yucky feeling...

I've had "Lipfinity" recommended thus far...

I hate the Lipfinity products. They make your lips feel very dried out, IMO.

I prefer liquid, gel or marker-type lip stains. Tarte makes a great one that looks like a big crayon. Also good are MAC lip stains and Three Custom Color Specialists - which come in little compacts and can be used on both lips and cheeks, so they're a great multi-use product.

"Lip 'stain'" sounds promising - tell me more. Does it actually stain so there's no yuckiness?

are you okay with plain old chapstick? I like using mineral make up. You can use it dry, but it does work better with some kind of base. doesn't feel like it's there at all & has good staying power.

Sephora: SEPHORA COLLECTION Lush Flush Lip & Cheek Stain: Lip Stain

I like this product, no gloopy feel and it stays for awhile, plus it doesn't dry your lips out.

Exactly. Lip Stain products are designed to stain the skin of the lips and don't leave behind the waxiness that some lipsticks and lip balms can cause, nor the stickiness of lip gloss. They usually go on a bit more "liquidy" and then dry down into a stain.

I have used Benefit Benetint (liquid tint) and liked it except for the taste so don't paint too close to the inner-lip. I also HATE wearing lipstick and I seem to always smear it with a veil or my hair.

Covergirl has lip stains as well, under the "Outlast" line - I like the company (ya hear that covergirl? I am ready for my freebees now...;)) , but I haven't tried this product...yet... so I can't comment on the line itself - just another option, anyway.

One reviewer gave the caveat of "make sure your lips don't have any dry spots" and wanted the viewer to "exfoliate" first(apparently a little olive oil and brown sugar mixture wiped across the lips does the trick) .

    Hope that helps :)

Don't try the Covergirl stain! It was REALLY challenging to only mark the mouth parts you want marked with this, and if you went outside your intended line it was hard to get it off...however the part on the lips wore off after an hour, leaving only the outline.

Can't speak for the other stains but Covergirl bummed me out. I have lipgloss that behaves better!

Good to know, Yaalini, thank you:) (steers away from the covergirl stain, loses all freebees...) :)

I don't know if they still have them, but Wet 'n Wild (super cheap drugstore line) used to sell little bottles of stain. That might be something to play with and see if you like it.

I've used it. It's long lasting, but does dry out the lips. It's not as bad as some of the cheaper products, but I let my lips recover for a couple of days before I use it again. I am a natural redhead with sensitive skin.

Revlon Color Stay! I HATE the lipsticks taste! No taste, stays on forever, in a dry way, so no rubbing off, getting hair stuck on it. AND it is not pricey at all.

I have L'oreal Infallible... It feels like vinyl if you don't use the balm over the top, so it's definitely for a glossy look if you wanna be comfortable, but it looks pretty good, and it does last. I've had it on since 9 this morning, and it's currently 8pm, and i've been eating and everything. :)

Yea, I've been doing face/eye makeup for years. MAC owns most of my face! I love kohl too - I'm never on stage without it.

For stain I use Revlon's Just Bitten. Works great especially during summertime and doesn't "melt" off my face or come off on water bottles/glasses.

I don't know what color you're looking for, but Benetint by Benefit Cosmetics is a nice rose-colored lip stain. It looks like they now also have a paler pink one, Posietint.

This is a good topic for the non-men too. On the rare occasion I remember to wear lipstick, I'll usually eat or drink something before I perform so all I've accomplished is eating a lipstick flavored sandwich.

I was in CVS yesterday, and came home with Revlon's "All New" Colorstay Ulitmate liquid lip glop. I don't know if I did good or bad, but it was the color I was looking for (sorta brownish-red), so I figured I'd try it!

I used to love Lip Ink - it does make your lips dry but they have a great moisturizer to put on over it that works really well. It stays on for a long time, the seems to exfoliate the lips in a nice way.

    For bullet-proof lips without gunk:

1- put on your fav shade of Chanel Hydra Base lipstick, straight from the tube. Blot. Re-Apply. Then blot, blot, blot, until all you have left is a stain. (Be warned that this stain will require some work to take off, unless you have baby oil, or something similar on hand.)

2- line and fill your lips with a lipliner that is not too soft. (MAC for example, is a bit too soft) Blot as necessary, then apply a touch of lipbalm in the center if it feels dry.

3- for a natural look, apply lipbalm and blot it some so it is only very slightly sticky. Then rub a clean finger on a pan of medium-dark blush and pat onto the lip balm (this method will not last tremendously long, but if it is only for a song and the other methods still feel too yucky, you may want to give it a try)

    Re: tthtsmiym!

I use the lipliner from Nars. stays on forever, and you dont even feel it ;) At first, I used it only to line the lips, but the lipstic always wore of, so now i line the lips, and "drag" the lipliner from the "lines", inwards on my lips. If I want a more dramatic look, I wear lipstic over.
But this way, I dont have to worry about wandering around after having a snack, with only lipliner left :p (well, it is only lipliner left, but now I have it all over my lips :p)

sorry about my terrible english :S

I hate make-up but I do wear Benefit BeneTint Lip Balm on a regular basis. A thin coat darkens up the lips but doesn't look unnatural and it doesn't feel gross. Also, it's SPF 15.

If you have sensitive skin, or allergies, you might like Almay's Truly Lasting Color - I've put it on, done a show, gone to dinner, bed, and woken up the next morning with my lips still done. Just don't put chapstick on right before the color or else it comes off before it dries. I hardly ever use the gloss, my husband won't kiss me with gloppy lips <3
