I'm feeling rather scandalous!
I just got the two pieces of a 'nekkid' skirt finished and pinned together. The top layer of the skirt is black mesh with a gold sheen and the lining is nude (and is above the knee length). My tummy flip flopped because it actually looks like I'm wearing nothing underneath it. .w.: Perhaps it's 'too nekkid?' I'm not a professional dancer, just a happy hobbyist that dances at little community haflas; is it to risque' to risk (har har) a daring design like that? There are often children around because the venues are in local resturants and cafe's. The skirt looks absolutely gorgeous but I don't want to offend anyone.
Honest opinions are much appreciated.
If it will help I'll snap a pic tomorrow when it's daylight and put it in my photobucket. Thank you all soooo much.

Re: I'm feeling rather scandalous!
if you're feeling self conscious or worrying about how people are perceiving you it will show in your dancing. if it would take the worry away make a black or gold lining that you can use as another option for when you're not sure how the audience will react.
but i would love to see picture ^_^

I want to see a picture!!
if you're self conscious about it, get someone's opinion IRL. I was always self conscious in a sahar that I had, but all my troupe mates LOVED it, and always told me not to worry- so it just may be the case of that....
pics!

You can always add bling to off set where the eyes are going.

Re: I'm feeling rather scandalous!
My first thought, without seeing the pic yet, is that while it may look like you're wearing nothing under it at first glance, a close look will probably prove that's not the case, as you won't be able to see your legs through it. Of course, in a setting with kids that may not matter, as kids probably won't be observant enough to notice that subtle fact and there may be loud comments or parents angry because their kids THINK you're wearing nothing underneath, even if the parents know better.
If it were a case of nude cutouts, I'd suggest what many skaters do and add some bling to the nude-colored material itself to make it obvious that there's fabric there, but in the case of lining that doesn't really work.
(Heh, I remember the time around kindergarten or so when one of my classmates was talking about the circus and how "there are ladies without any clothes on!" The teacher had to point out that, "uh, they're actually wearing skin-colored bodysuits.")
