Thread: Skirt work

Hi, ladies. I am learning Sarah Skinner "I Love Turkish" choreography and need a skirt long enough for skirt work. I've seen 10, 16, and 25 yard skirts. I already know the 25 yard one just overpowers me. I'm only 5'1".

What lengths do you find work best in your experience?

I like the 25 yard skirts for skirt work and I'm only an inch taller than you.

From their description - "These skirts are exceptional for skirtwork and specially made to reduce bulk near the waist and hips. The hem circumference of this huge skirt is at least 15 yards."

You need the full 25 yards, just not a long length. It can be shortened from the top. Get a fabric that has a lot of flow (gauze instead of a heavy cotton) so it doesnt stick out like a wedding dress. I just happen to have one in dark teal with metallic lurex accent threads complete with a top. Too short for me at 35 inches.

I'm also only 5'1" and I wear 25 yard skirts only. Anything less doesn't have enough material to really "ruffle" nicely. And I always wear two of them at the same time, in contrasting colors.
