One big crazy mess!
Hello everybody!
I bought a costume from an Egyptian vendor, and he messed up completely!
The size is not correct, the bra cups look funny on me and you have to sort of go comando to wear it LOL (it has huge cut outs), also the color is not what I ordered. It ended up a weird mix of black, forest green, silver and 2 tones of orange.
I was trying to put it on my mannequin and it looks beautiful! against all odds! The problem is to keep it it on, the skirt has tons of beading and fabric which makes it very heavy.
I will like to get some suggestions from dancers who fix and/or make their own costumes, is it worthy to keep it and fix it, or I better sell it?
I think it would work great for a lady with bigger hips to be able to keep the skirt without sliding down. And maybe a D cup for the bra? Maybe adding some mesh in the cut outs will look better?
As for the cups, I don;t know if they can be replaced? Maybe it's too much work.
I have 2 babies so I have my hands full.
What would you guys do?

Re: One big crazy mess!
Please! That should go right back to the manufacturer with a demand for a refund. Just what colours did you order?

Re: One big crazy mess!
What vendor was this?
I will never order a custom-design on e-bay again. I kind of knew when I did it that it was a bad idea. I tried and tried to make something worthwhile out of what I got, wound up giving it away.

ITA! Send it back. Full refund including shipping fees. There should be some special award for this "custom order"

Re: One big crazy mess!
Sending the costume back and demanding full recompense will let them know in no uncertain terms that you are unhappy with their products. You will have to state that clearly too so there is no confusion. Wrong colors? Come on.....that's poor business practice.

Re: One big crazy mess!
Well, I don't know about the bra, but - depending on how the skirt is sewn into the belt you could unstitch the skirt and completely take it off. Then
1. Make another skirt in a decent colour, or (and probably easier)
2. Use the decorated bit as a separate belt. Put this over a decent colour skirt.e.g. a circle, or near circle type skirt, or even a straight one so there's no bunching of material The (matching!) colour would show through ok. Or put in some coordinating panels.
It all depends where the zipper ends up and the chiffon bit starts. I have actually done this and saved a costume that came with a skirt that was awful. It probably all depends what you paid for the original set and whether you can be bothered!!

Re: One big crazy mess!
If you paid with a credit card you can file a complaint with your credit card compoany and request a charge-back.
I have to agree, it is one big crazy mess! Also the bra design looks like it is going to flatten anyone's boobs, rather than lifting and supporting, without a major makeover.

Re: One big crazy mess!
Given the responses so far, I don;t think you'll have much luck with the latter!is it worthy to keep it and fix it, or I better sell it?
I agree you should send it back. Any reputable costumier should be ashamed to send out something so distantly related to what you ordered!

Re: One big crazy mess!
Is it me, or is one bra cup shaped quite differently than the other?
I would send it back - it looks very poorly made, and I doubt you'd be able to sell it to anyone.

Re: One big crazy mess!
I'm jumping on the bandwagon of "send it back." I hope you can get your money back. If everything is wrong, did they even make a custom order or did the vendor just send you a random costume they had laying around?

Re: One big crazy mess!
That is a "mess" and unless you want to rip it apart and start from scratch I would try hard to send it back!

Return it...selling it is not going to happen.
In the meantime, quarantine it in a garment bag. You never know, it might be contagious.

Well, you definitely have achieved what you say in your profile, "I don't go for brands, I prefer costumes that look unique! " This is certainly unique! Did they get anything right?

Re: One big crazy mess!
Maybe it's just the picture (could be the 2 glasses of wine I've had), but to me, the bra cups look like they're 2 different sizes!

Just send it back right away!
It really looks like something which is made of the rests of everything they just had in their drawers and couldn't use up to now.

Re: One big crazy mess!
The bright orange fabric peeping out from the bottom "notch" opening in the belt bothers me. Maybe it looks better in real life, but in the photos it's kind of disturbing. I hope you can send it back and use the money for a costume you really want.
