And that's how you deal with a costume malfunction...

I have to admit, the skirt issue distracted me from her dancing but I thought she handled it very well!

The backside hitch-up in time with the music was cute. :)

I like that she made it a humorous situation in the beginning but it was a distraction throughout the performance. The beading on the bottom of the skirt must make it pretty heavy.

One of my dance heroes, Maia, did the cutest hop/kick/skirt hitch during a performance once. You bet she had me putting elastic in the waist band of that skirt in short order!

She was great! And it obvious that she had the audience eating out of her hands. Wow! I loved some of those moves. WIsh the video was a little better. Nice performance tho.

Yea, once is one thing, 5 times is another - you find yourself hoping it doesn't fly off. Insufficient testing and/or inadequate elastic? A dancer at a local performance I attended last weekend had a similar issue - but it only occurred near the end of her dance. She covered it nicely by keeping turned towards the audience, and a strategically placed hand covered the problem as she exited the stage.
With that said, she (the performer in the above video) sure is a lovely performer - and I'd KILL for a costume that pretty.
The camera-monkey should be shot...Last edited by zorba; 09-01-2010 at 02:21 PM.

She definitely knows how to fill a stage with her energy, too. Listen to the cheering! It was almost as fun to watch the tabla player, I must say.

I've seen several butt-crack incidents during restaurant performances. It's a particular risk for older dancers who have lost muscle mass in the booty and don't realize the fit of their costume has changed until the skirt gets so low they can feel it slipping down. The bodystocking makes it even easier for the belt to begin to slip down 'cause it's not sticking to the skin.

I didn't catch the malfunction. Where was it and what happened? I'm guessing something to do with her skirt falling down a tad... I didn't notice. I did catch her pulling up her skirt near the beginning after looking for it.

Here she is with better camera work. Her skirt's still falling down but I missed the cute hiking-on-the-beat move so I wonder if it's the same performance or not. Love her.

Reminds me of Zoe's bra hitch, to which she explains later in the video, "It's a new costume.." to an audience of fellow dancers. It made me chuckle. I love this video because of the lovely taxim in the beginning.
