Thread: How do I make a modesty panel?

I've never worn the lycra Egyptian cossies, but I got one from Neenee's Imports (her prices are good and not cheap quality, btw). The leg slit goes almost all the way to the waist though, and I'm not entirely comfortable with that. How do I insert a modestly panel? Is there a basic shape to the piece & do I serge all edges or do a rolled hem or ???

1/4 or 1/2 circle of chiffon. Measure the length of the slit, add 1.5". that is your radius. It is also the length of fabric you will need. So if the measurement is 20", you will need a piece of fabric which is at least 21.5 x 21.5 for the 1/4 circle. If your fabric is 45 + inches wide, fold it in half and place one radius on the fold. This will give you a half circle.

Hem the sides. Attach at the point or fold point, allow to hang for several days. Then hem the bottom and add trim if desired.
