What color veil?
I bought a royal blue with silver "enchantment" set from Dahlal and I love it, but I want a veil that 'pops' with the color. I have an arabesque skirt with blue holo sequins and a liquid skirt with silver/light blue/royal sequins.
this is the color for reference: Belly Dance Costumes | Belly Dance Store.com: gallery
I'm mostly pale with dark strawberry/dirty blonde hair.
I was thinking lime green? any other ideas?

Re: What color veil?
I love lime green and have the same features as you... that being said...I think that lime green would overtake you and the costume. I would want eyes on me , not the veil. Deep purple would be a lovely backing and compliment the richness of the jewel tones. Perhaps even a dyed combo of your blue and violet. ..g.:

Re: What color veil?
Mh - I would go for pink or purple or turquoise or a veil that contains blue with one or two of the other mentioned colours.
Love, Sahira.

My vote is for the deep purple.

Get an Akai "bird of Paradise".

O_O I agree with Shala. Wow...
Lime green would be nice, a nice orange could be interesting...

Do love the multi-coloured veils, very versatile! I bought from Fairy Cove a lovely one called "Egyptian Queen" that has gold, mandarin, tangerine and delphinium. The colours are quite a bit more vibrant than the picture.

Re: What color veil?
Thanks for the advice, I wasn't thinking all lime, more likely a dark blue to lime fade. I saw a dk blue/lime costume and fell in love with the color combo. I love the Bird of Paradise but I avoid red like the plague :-( I find it really brings out all my skin imperfections.
What about the 'Isis" pattern from Fairy Cove Silks? I like heavier 1/2 circle veils and they offer them

Re: What color veil?
Orange, gold, anything orangey will pop against blue.

Re: What color veil?
Oranges, tangerines, deeper peach will make shades of blue "pop". The Isis veil will look softer and more subtle (IMO); however, it will likely work better with the silver in your costumes. Akai Silks also makes a pretty blue, green, purple.

Re: What color veil?
mmmmm I saw a cobalt blue to green-yellow veil in the swap meet yesterday!! I wonder if I can find it again .w.:
Edit:
Vitory! (hurrah for the advanced search button) Julsie is selling some silk veils http://www.bhuz.com/forum/bellydance...ilk-veils.html here's the one that I talking about! She also has another one in different shades of blue...

Hope that helps
although I think that bird of paradise of Akai is my definite favourite (but I am a purple lover so that might explain it...)

Re: What color veil?
I think green has too much yellow in it to look good with your blue/silver combo. I have an awesome blue & green costume myself, but the accents are gold. For silver & blue, I would go more the purple/pink/rose direction.

Re: What color veil?
This is my thought exactly. When you take art courses, you learn that orange is the opposite of blue...which means blue is a flattering color for orangey redheads because it makes your hair color pop. (I'm a red...lol) The same will happen if you want your veil to pop against your blue costume. I would say either orange, tangerine, or an A'Kai blend that has both the blue of your costume AND an orangey tone.
I taught a costume workshop a while back, and I discussed the color wheel with the dancers there. Purple and yellow are opposites...Red and green...you change the tones based upon the individual colors. A dancer with light towhead blonde brings out her hair color with a purple costume...a deep redhead (like Jillina) shines in green...and so on.
