    Best hooks and eyes tutorial

I know absolutely nothing about sewing and I have a bra that I need to add a new eye to, because the way it's set now is too small....what's the best tutorial for sewing those suckers on, I google it and get a bunch of videos but I haven't found on that super clear yet

    how did you learn?

also what kind of hooks and eyes should I get for a bra?
should I get pants hooks and eyes?

    Thanks ladies!

If you go here Hooks & Eyes: Sewing Supplies & Alteration Supplies by Sew True.com, you can see the kinds of products you are looking for. You'll probably want something from the first row: skirt hooks, heavy-duty hooks and eyes, or size 3 dress hooks. (I wouldn't go smaller than 3 on the dress hooks.) If your costume needs the support because of extremely heavy beading, you might also be able to use the coat style at the bottom.

One way to do the job is to try the garment on and get an idea of where the hook needs to go, sew the hook on, and then rub some tailor's chalk on the top of the hook. Try the garment on again, and press it closed so that the hook leaves a chalk mark on the opposite side where the eye needs to go, and then sew the eye on. (This works better on the lining side than the sequin side...) There are some pictures here Fasteners Made Easy.

Some dancers like to put sets of hooks and eyes in opposition so that you have pull in both directions. Others use a combination method, with heavy-duty snaps as a backup to the hooks. There isn't only one way to do it, as long as you end up with something less-than-impossible to put on, and secure when you're wearing it.

You can use either skirt hooks or trouser heavy duty hooks.
