Hey Dancers,
Can anyone suggest to me where i can buy some long fake ponytails for a decent price? Im not wanting to spend too much money on one since im not planning on wearing it for every single performance. But I'm looking for one to wear for the current solo piece im working on.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
I know you are in the States and I'm in the UK so it may be different but I looked in department stores and found they were very expensive. I live in a town with a large Afro-Caribean community that has lots of hair and beauty shops. In there they were half the price of the department store and had a two for one offer so I picked up a straight one and a curly one.

If you can guess at your color well enough to buy online, I like e-bay sellers hairmenow or capistranobaybeauty.

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
I agree with oula... go to your local ethnic beauty shop, that's where I get my fake eyelashes and a lot of large fun jewelry for super cheap! I have a friend who wears fake ponytails for every performance and she gets hers from the same types of places. good luck!

For Lauren and the OP - try Black Hair Style | Human Hair Wigs | Hair Weave | Remi Hair | Remy Hair - they have great fake hair in all colors.

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
An alternative to an already made pony is a weft of hair wrapped around your existing nub. Pin the daylights out of it and cover it with a pretty wrap that matches your costume and *presto* instant glam.

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
That's a cool idea, I never thought of just extending my pony

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
I bought mine on hairextensions.com. Hairpieces aren't always returnable, so if you buy online, get a color ring first. (Most places will rent it to you, or apply the cost of the ring to your purchase.)
The ponytail look wasn't for me, so I ended up switching to clip-in extensions, which I bought at a kiosk in the mall. The kiosk looked like they had a bunch of cheesy little pieces, but she had a full stock of hairpieces in the drawers. The service was great; I had something specific in mind, but she steered me to a piece that worked better and was a lot cheaper.
I'd be happy to pass my ponytail on, but I'm not sure it would be dark enough for you. It's #6, which is a dark brown, but not the darkest they make. From your photo, I'd guess that you probably need #2 or #4.
It's this style, but much darker than shown:

Hair Extensions.com :: The Hair Professionals :: Hairpieces & Ponytails :: Ponytails :: Provocative by easihair Hairpieces
If you are interested, let me know.

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
I like a drawstring pony as opposed to the claw/clip styles. I think its easier to pin and adjust the pony to blend more with you natural hair. The claw style look like you clipped a ponytail in.

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
I got one at Walgreens that I actually love. It is a claw clip but I don't have a problem hiding it. I wouldn't suggest a lot of hair tossing while wearing it but I have performed with it and had no problems. Best part is it was only $12 bucks and has held up for more than a year now.

Re: Long Fake Ponytails?
Yeah, that's how I acquired my butt-length pony. Just for farts and giggles, I stopped at a mall kiosk and the lady whipped some really nice stuff out of the drawer. It was also nice that she helped me pick the right color and gave me tips on how to make it stay in place.
