Thread: Help me find the right skirt!

Just bought this cutie on the swap meet:


And I want to pair it with a skirt. Dahlal has a sale on Minya Glitter skirts & Ahket Skirts. I can't decide btwn the Minya in this yummy kiwi ice color

or the ahket in ebony (black)

Kiwi Pros/Cons:
The fringe on the belt is black and will stand out nicely against the green
The green is bright and fun
Could be the wrong shade for a good match

Ebony Pros/Cons
The fringe on the belt is black and wont stand out much
I like the holographic fabric better, its looks slinky and sexxxy
Its a versatile skirt, but I have 2 other black skirts already.

So...what would you pick?

Love the green, but you're right- it will have to be the perfect match. If the shade is off, it will look, well... off. If the shade is right, that would be my preference.

If I'm seeing it correctly (no caffeine yet), it looks like there are white or silver tips to the fringe? That will help the fringe show up with a black skirt. So if you go with black, it will show up more than if you had all-black fringe.

My vote is for green, if the shade is right. Black otherwise.

Amara, You're totally on my wavelength. I've got my costume held right up to my monitor to see if the green will work (the picture of me in the bedlah isn't true to color).

I agree with Amara. You could also ask the good folks at L. Rose to send you some fabric samples of their metallic and holographic stretch fabrics to see if one of those would look particularly good. I love the fact that they're so reasonable about samples. I think you can get up to five for free. I'd recommend ordering samples of the lime green holo, the black holo, and the silver on black metalskin. Then you could get a slit trumpet skirt similar in style to the ones you posted, if one of those colors really looks good.

I agree, if you can get mini swatches, DO! I've had a BEAR of a time with greens - emerald green, forests, grass green, lime, mint... ARRRGH.

I like holographic, as it can cast different shades at once, so can be a bit easier to match. IMO I would go with a matched green, as it indeed would make those black beads stand out on the belt.

I'd been waiting for weeks for fringe for a grass green bedlah I'm working on, ordered the color- and the vendor sent me OLIVE green. *throws things*

If you order the Ahket skirt, get it at least one or possibly two sizes larger than you need. They run very small in sizing.

I think a green skirt would look best too, and that's a great idea to order swatches first to make sure it's a perfect match.

If you can't decide, you could always get one black and one green for different looks too.

What colour are the bead tips and embellishments? They look silver so a silver skirt might be an interesting alternative to black and until you find the perfect match for the green.

I'd say green since you already have black skirts (which may pair up nicely with the bedlah), so that you would have 2 different looks.

Silver may work too. Maybe get all 3 ,r:;

any time you try to match up skirts with a bedlah it's tricky, why do you think I have so many skirts I'm selling I couldn't find the right color.
