help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
Hi Ladies -
this teeny project was sold to a tiny dancer, thanks!
Bit of a story behind this. I bought some incredible vintage fabric on ebay that is loaded with clear crystals, pearls, sequins, etc. When I received the fabric, I realized there wasn't enough to cover the bra and belt form to fit me. There was a tiny old bedlah I received in a box of fabric scraps, so I covered the tiny bedlah. And I mean tiny, A cuppers only.
The bedlah is completely covered with the fabric now, and I've added rhinestone trim over the fabric. I need to construct rib and neck straps for the bra but I don't know how long to make them. I also need to figure out whether to use expensive rhinestone fringe on the belt or less expensive silver fringe, and how big to set the belt and how much fringe to use for a small dancer. Finally, I need to add some soft cotton batting to the bra and line the set.
Doing a tiny bedlah on spec was not the smartest idea in the world. Just in materials (fabric and rhinestone trim and center bra stone and rhinestone brastraps) I already have invested $143 and I'm afraid my $100/yard rhinestone trim will make the bedlah too expensive to sell.
Here are some measurements, I don't know what to do with this.
current bra cups, inside top to bottom 4.5", side to side 5", diagonal 5"
original ribcage strap, detached from bra 14", when on bra the entire length was 25"
original halter strap 19"
two new double rhinestone straps, 21" each, rhine part is 17" long
belt in two pieces, front is 18", back is 19"
thank you for helping me!!

<jaw drop> It's not finished? You're planning to sell it? Me want!!!!!
Ahh, I see. Well, the rhinestone trim is flashier, but will likely make it cost prohibitive. The silver fringe you have laid out does look very nice.
How much is the neighborhood of what you'd want for it with the silver fringe? Maybe if you find the buyer -before- you finish it you can just finish it to her measurements.Last edited by SpicyThai; 08-21-2010 at 04:18 PM.

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
It would be awesome for you to buy it and finish it to fit you, then I wouldn't have to!
Let me know if you are interested and I can take a final picture of everything that is included.

Seriously! If the belt were smaller, I'd definitely take it off your hands. Talk about gorgeous!

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
I believe yes, as the original belt is thin and not thick, and the fabric does not add alot of bulk. The silver fringe is $40, so the total cost would be $183 plus shipping. Should I take a picture of everything that would be included in that price?

Same exact issue as SpicyThai, (but I will patiently hold my place in line (as much as I can =) ), since she messaged you 8 minutes before I did about interest in purchasing)....I would also need to have the belt much smaller, 31"hh, 33" low hip.

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
ok, here is a picture of the project. You can buy your own silver fringe if you wish - the $40 fringe offered is first quality 4" fringe, one meter of same. If the project is purchased without the fringe, cost is $143.
from top to bottom in the picture:
vintage fabric scraps. enough to cover the current old straps if you choose to use those.
neutral soft lining
original neckstrap
original rib strap
two new rhinestone straps
bra cups, sewn together at center
belt front
belt back
fringe, one meter
bamboo padding for bra, super soft

.w.:.w.:.w.: Ezma you never cease to amaze me!!! I absolutley LOVE this!:tongue::tongue: the belt would fit me fine, but that bra is WAY TO SMALL, probably a good thing! I'd love to see pics of what materials you have to finish it off though.

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
This bedlah has made quite a journey! I bought the base you ended up using from a Bhuzzer who was selling it for a friend that retired. I got it to mine for Saroyans (and have since used them to make a new Saroyan bedlah) and the base went to you in that box of fabrics. The bra is definitely teeny tiny, neither the bra or belt fit me. Its so nice that the original costume I got on Bhuz has know been born anew into not one but 2 costumes- the gorgeous costume you made and my Saroyan! There was a tiny old bedlah I received in a box of fabric scraps, so I covered the tiny bedlah.

It's very pretty. I like the beaded fringe better anyway. It goes with the fabric better in my opinion.

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
So cute! It's sensible to leave the choice of fringe to the buyer because the rhinestone fringe, though brilliant, is a nightmare with chiffon skirts. I'm having that problem with one I made.

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
Good point about the rhinestone fringe not working with chiffon skirts.
I am intent on this. I do want to clarify the bra though--does the entire back/rib strap need to be replaced? What were you planning to use to do that?

Re: help me finish a teeny tiny bedlah
Yes, I deconstructed the entire old bedlah before I started (even cut the one piece belt in half). I was going to use the old rib strap and part of the old neck strap and cover them with the leftover fabric for the new back strap. Then use the rhinestone straps for new bra straps.

Pearl fringe!! It would so complement the vintage materials, and there are plenty of pearl/pearlescent beads in the material...

Okay, I'm dreaming about it, wanting it, and I'm pretty sure it's one of those things that I will forever mourn if I don't get it. PMing you with my shipping info so you can calculate (including the fringe).
