As far as VENDORS go, I've always had good luck w/ the belly dance store... excellent customer service and super quick shipping.
Dahlal isn't bad, but shipping has always been a little slow with in stock items and customer service takes a little longer to get back to you. But everything I've gotten from them has been good quality and just what I ordered. They also check to make sure that the costume in stock will work with your submitted measurements which is nice.

Hi, Thanks for feeback :) ! Jessenia I love your veils :) have a few of them. I heard great things about Sim and Bella. Problem is that I have tred to register a few times and no reply.
Dahlah ordered something from them and size was way off. I had even spoke to someone first before ordering it. Yes, I have had great experience with belly dance store but that was at Rakkasah East. Lately she has not been attending. Wondering how good fit will be if ordered online.

BELLA AND DAHAB DESIGNS!
You totally don't need a Bella password to order costumes from her. I've ordered three costumes and I still don't have a password for her website and from what I've heard, there's not much in there that's very relevant. Just EMAIL her directly with what you want, your measurements, and a price quote if you need one (not that I'm rich or anything...far from that but I find that she has more freedom to work with a design if you don't ask for a quote). Problem is that Bella is quite silent and you may not get a message from her until your costume's ready!
And I can't recommend Dahab Designs here on Bhuz enough!! I just received my costume from her a little while ago and it's AMAZING...seriously, I just can't recommend them enough. Alisa also answers emails right away and she'll even suggest ways you can improve your costume if she feels like your design will enhance from it. And she's fast too! Takes about four to five weeks...transferring money might be a bit tricky though since she uses Money Gram but other than that...I love Dahab Designs! If you can't afford a Bella or a Sim or a higher end costume but still want that high end feel without paying close to a $1000 AND get it custom made... go for Dahab.Last edited by marsbar; 08-23-2010 at 11:21 AM.

Re: What belly dance costume vendors recommend
I have had mixed experiences with Dahlal. My in-stock orders have been flawless. My two custom orders have been awful: both were MONTHS late, one was the wrong item (which then took months to replace), and I didn't get prompt responses when I contacted them about the problems. Plus, their prices (at least for CDs, videos, and Pharaonics costumes) are high.
I don't know how you feel about custom, but Shadia of Boston is amazing. She knows what will make you look good, no matter what kind of figure you have (and she knows how to engineer support for large busts). Plus, she has a great eye for design, so she doesn't have to slap on a ton of beadwork to make it look good, which means that she can keep her prices reasonable. She often has a waiting list, so you will not get instant gratification, but you will be glad you waited. She doesn't have a web site, but you can reach her on Facebook.

Re: What belly dance costume vendors recommend
I go right to the maker, I use a new maker in Egypt now. His designs are wonderful and he makes to order, quality is wonderful. With a DD cup size I got tired of trying to hunt down a costume that wasn't my first choice just to get the cups to fit,m::
