Thread: Who makes nice dresses for plus-sized women?

I'm looking for an Oriental dress and unless I buy used from a bhuzzer, I'll probably have to custom order. So who's custom ordered a dress and how was it? I'm thinking of going directly through an Egyptian designer, rather than through a US vendor.

Another thing I am curious about...there is a specific design I am looking for. I can settle for something else if the price is right. I found a Hanan dress and I asked her to replicate it for me...and she never has and I fear she never will. ,f:: So what are the chances that I can ask another Egyptian designer to replicate it for me? I know we've had all sorts of conversations about copying designs...but if you try to go through the designer and that fails, do you just give up? My heart is in that design though...

Have you tried Invoke the Goddess? I know of ONE dress that she made. Her designs are LOVELY too. She takes custom orders.

My turquoise dress (see the pics on my site) is a Joharah and it fits really well. I also have a mesh black one that is Joharah.

You can try King of the Nile as well.

The Gomaa Brothers from Egypt are awesome to work with... lots of happy dancers, and only a smattering of unhappy due to fit not being totally correct (usually bigger, not smaller).

I'll be ordering a dress or 2 when I'm there in December.

Have you thought of MandyT here on Bhuz.Her Shimmyshop costumes are wonderful and she doesn't assume that women come in one bodyshape.
