Thread: What are you working on...in September 2010?

A new month, a new thread!

I'm currently working on this red chunky bedlah, for some reason the colours
look wrong, it is more of a blood red. I've been working on it in the last week,
but running low on beads so hoping more will arrive today. I'm going to have
detachable hibiscus flowers that will snap on for when I'm feeling tropical! I
have some gorgeous exotic red and green fabric to make a skirt too.

Oh nice!

Working on making some matching gauntlets and arm foofies for a few costumes... also starting a Leeloo costume (from the fifth element) for Halloween.

I think you posted minutes after I started up the same thread, so I'll transfer on my post and go get rid of the other thread as best I can.

It's September here, so I'm going to kick it off from Japan!

I've settled in enough to my new apartment to have the craft area unpacked and (mostly) organized:



I'm starting off the month with things for others.

Bernie V recently bought one of my used, blingy, from-scratch, gold costumes...but her color downfall is the warm hues just as mine are the cooler hues (although we can meet up in the mixed warmth and cool of many reds and jewel hues)

Bernie V sold it to Selina Sevil in Sweden but the belt needs to be a little longer.

She contacted me and I am making two side medallions for her belt.


I'm also starting on (Japan) Farasha's latest super costume. At the Aziza workshops (where she was translating) she talked me into making her something white and dripping with crystals...a "Wedding cake chandelier" of a bedlah


It will be coming to America with me when I hit Vegas/ San Fran and Seattle. It's my airplane work!

And, today, I blogged about clothing and costuming. I tried to make sure that in promoting my brand of costume/clothing vision I did not accidentally tread on those who have a different aesthetic/vision/and needs.

Oh I'm so sorry Ozma, I didn't mean to steal your thunder!
Your workroom is beautiful, I'm very envious. I can't wait to see how the Wedding Cake Chandelier progresses, I imagine that boring flights must go in a flash when you have a project like that to do!

I think September is the month for me to find a dressmaking mannequin, October should be the start of a project, got the right books comming to read and hopefully itll all happen, full of energy at present, sewing beads on might fix that lol

No worries! We posted within 7 minutes of each other, probably just a matter of who types quicker. Great minds and all ..l;,

The flight from Tokyo to Seattle isn't too bad, 9 or so hours...plus the 2 hours at the airport and an hour getting to the airport. Audible Book + Sewing helps.

Medallions are finished!

Inn August I finished my flowers tribaret. It is filled with medallions and chains and a few crystals filling in a couple flowers on the bra and on te skirt.

almost forgot! I also finished my avatar costume...i am starting to think i need more blue crystals though...stay tuned!

oh thankyou! Eventually it will be on the swap since I have to constantly rotate my closet, but thanks this is my new fav costume!

I am currently between costume projects right now while I'm waiting for supplies to arrive so I decided to dig out some turquoise stones, that I have had in my stockpile for a while, and make a necklace for myself!
Here is my progress so far! I have to finish beading around the edges and then figure out what I want to do to hang it!..g.:

I need to bring a few of the tattoo appliques in progress on the plane, but right now the for-me projects are on the back burner as the "projects that fund my travel" are front and center.

Thanks everyone! It's very rare that I take the time to work on a project for myself.

I am getting closer to my Carpal Tunnel surgery date and I am hesitant to start any large project. I have a Custom order for a Tribaret Bra with using Browns, Coppers, and Turquoise as an accent color and I am just waiting for the supplies to arrive...once that is done....I think it will be break time for me

I go for my pre-op physical in 1 week and then I wait for the phone call...it could be 3 days...or 3 months. It sucks

I have some quick sewing machine projects for myself so that will have to keep me busy for the fall.

I really love this! The way you incorporated the turquoise fabric on the side of the torso and then on the opposite side on the slip is gorgeous. Bravo!

Costume season is just starting for me so I will likely be distracted from belly dance sewing for a while. Right now I'm altering a foot ball jersey for my brother, sewing a My Little Pony costume for a bike parade, repairing a shirt for my dad and getting ready to teach a fringed belt and beladi dress making class for my students. There will likely be more troupe costuming as we gear up for a Halloween performance as mummies. ..g.:
