Space bags?
So with all the traveling I do, I'm always looking for a way to be more organized, I've seen the space bags for travelers, has anyone tried these out with costumes? Is it hard to get the air out with a bulky bra or belt?

Re: Space bags?
Space bags must be rolled and pressed to remove excess air. I think the beads and such would puncture the plastic bags, plus the process would probably damage costumes. Space bags are great for other items that do not require ironing. Plus they are helpful in the event either rain or spilled liquids impact your suitcase or contents. I use gallon zip top bags for personal clothing, gradually remove air by rolling my forearm across the filled bags. Everything in my suitcase is in zip top bags including shoes, clothing, toiletry and cosmetic bags. During one trip my suitcase sat in the rain prior to being boarded on my plane. The suitcase was wet but thankfully the contents were dry.

Re: Space bags?
space bags are a pain (at least the ones I've seen, one from Samsonite and an off-brand one) and unless you use the vaccuum ones, getting the air out is time consuming. If you seek better organization when traveling, check out eBags. I have several of their packing cubes, and I use one of the padded cubes for jewelry (they are intended for electronics, but I find they're good for big jewelry items too) For a bra, maybe one of their shoes bag would work, or maybe you can pack your entire costume in the top part of the Mother Lode bag? (watch the video for this one, the Mother Lode line is extremely well designed)

I use the vacuum kind to pack my ATS gear and skirts - 25 yard skirts, pantaloons, hip scarves, cholis, wrap tops...but I wouldn't use it for my Oriental costumes! I don't think it would affect belts and beaded skirts as much but the bag collapsing on itself when you remove the air could really damage the shape your bras.
