How do I remove a stain from my hand-dyed silk veil?

I have a hand-dyed silk veil that was stained in one spot (about the size of a quarter), likely when I dropped it on the floor in a restaurant. I think it's a grease stain. Do you have any suggestions as to the best way to try to get it out? Many thanks!

Put baking soda all over it, let the baking soda sit for a little bit, then go at it with dish soap and a toothbrush, afterward rinse the whole veil really well to avoid water spots, really, really well, you don't want any soap left in it whatsoever. Then iron it dry. This works better when the stain is fresh. If it has been there for a little while it doesn't work as well.

Splash club soda on the stain, place a towel or bath cloth on each side of the veil and press firmly with your hand. May have to repeat several times. Do not rub the silk, it usually weakens the fibers. Club soda is also wonderful for removing stains and such from men's silk ties. Chemicals can damage silk. I look forward to reading other posts.

Resurrecting this thread because I need to know how to remove a water stain? I cleaned a few spots from the sleeve on a dress but now there's a water mark. Any hints would be appreciated!

My mom used to hold the garment in the steam from her teakettle, carefully steaming the area around the silk, and then ironing it dry. But that was years ago... silk has different finishes these days. Good luck!

for hand dyed silk you should be able to wash it, gently of course, I dye it an it really gets washed in the process! if they get dirty, I hand wash or gentle cycle wash
