Max Factor 2000 Calorie survivors -- what have you found to replace

Okay, it is a very sad day. My last holdout source for getting the most magical stuff in the universe, Max Factor 2000 calorie extreme mascara, has dried up. Drugstore.com is clearanceing their Max Factor and are already out of mascara. The stuff is now selling for $20 and up on Amazon and ebay.

What do I do now? Those who know this product, you know what it does. What have you found that comes close?

I am heavily addicted to mascara on a daily basis, so I would really like to find a drugstore brand, or at least something that is not $20.

This week I have worn L'oreal double extends and Maybelline Stilletto. Very unsatisfying.

Oh Lord I hated the Stiletto. Talk about spider lashes...whew, I used it only once and threw the bottle in the trash. I didn't have the receipt or I would have taken it back. Also the Maybelline XXL 24 hour Bold is horrible too. Actually, every single Maybelline product I've tried, I've been unhappy with.
I really like, Covergirl Multiplying hydrofuge waterproof. I'm still looking for something better though so I'll be watching this thread too.

Have you tried Cover Girl Lash Blast? (obnoxious orange tube) It's pretty good.

Also I Like L'Oreal's Lash Out.

Try "Falsies" by Maybelline (I think it's Maybelline, but definitely called "falsies", just ask for falsies at the drug store haha) It's in a purple tube.

I love Rimmel Lash Maxxx. I haven't found anything I like better.

Rimmel's mascaras are quite good. I'd recommend any of them.

My current fave mascara is L'Oreal Double Extend. It has a primer and the mascara in the same double-ended tube.

I'm generally a high-end girl for makeup, but interestingly, I've found that my favorite mascaras are low-end.

I like loreal teloscopic, but only once it's had a chance to thicken up.. the texture changes as it starts to dry, and i find its PERFECT about 2 weeks in.

I've been looking at makeup alley mascara reviews. If you sort them by rating and then look for highly rated ones that also have large numbers of reviews (as in hundreds, rather than just one or two), the high rated mascaras are virtually ALL Max Factor mascaras. Which are no longer available in the US.

L'Oreal double extends is one I have bought more than once and have on hand right now. I thought it was okay until I tried Max Factor. Also, the "tubes" are handy for removing daily makeup, but for serious gigs where I can drip sweat I would be too afraid of the "tubes" rolling down my face before the performance is through.

    WHY is this??

Yes, that totally happens, which is why I ditched double extends.

Interesting! I've never had that problem with Fiberwig or the cheapo equivalent, Define-A-Lash in the green package. Some tubes must be stickier than others.

Your Double Extend came off in tubes? Mine doesn't at all--how strange. I'm not fond of the kind that come off that way.

We're talking about the same stuff right? Red and white container? Says Beauty Tubes on the container? Comes of in black strings.

Is the Max Factor 2000 Calorie available in Europe or other countries? Maybe a bhuzzer from one of those areas would send some to you.

As far as Mascara goes I like the Japonesque lash fiber things with L'oreal Lash Out over them.

Actually, we're talking about different varieties. The one I get is in a blue and gold tube, and doesn't say "beauty tubes." Just "Double Extend." See here: http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...u=013A5914000P

Maybe it's worth a try for you!

I just bought three to test drive:

    Maybelline Colossal Volum'Express
    Cover Girl LashBlastFusion
    L'Oreal Double Extend

The Maybelline was pretty nice yesterday. It didn't utterly blow me away, but it was pretty nice. I'll try one of the others today.

Yeah, it was my favorite, too. I haven't found anything that worked quite like it. I think I mainly liked the brush it had.

Yeah... maybe I'll just keep and clean the brushes for use w/ other mascaras.

Re: Max Factor 2000 Calorie survivors -- what have you found to replace

I can't tell you how great it was to see that someone else in the world feels as strongly as I do about this mascara!!! For me, it is the ONLY mascara that doesn't uncurl my eyelashes after I curl and apply. I have LITERALLY TRIED every mascara that other members have suggested EXCEPT Fiberwig, which I will have by the weekend. I wish they would bring this formula back...sighhhh.

In the meantime, I wrote to Max Factor earlier this week (which is now owned by CoverGirl). I am going to paste the response I got from them here. They were very nice. I went to CVS and bought a number of their mascaras, but the one they recommended to replace the 2000 Calorie Hydrofuge that I used was the ONLY one that CVS didn't have in stock (of course ;-p). I wish you luck on your search for a new unicorn! Here is the feedback from CoverGirl (FKA Max Factor):

Thanks for contacting Max Factor, Melissa.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara has been discontinued in the United States. We value your loyalty to Max Factor and appreciate the tremendous positive feedback we’ve enjoyed over the years. I’ll be sure to share your comments with the rest of the team.

While our entire inventory has been distributed, you may still be able to find Max Factor products at your local stores or online. To find local retailers that carry Max Factor cosmetics, you can visit our store locator at http://www.maxfactor.com/index.jsp#MAX_storeLocator. Just enter your zip code, click on the find button, and a list of stores will be displayed. We recommend calling stores in advance to ensure they carry the particular Max Factor product you’re looking for. If you prefer to shop online, you can visit drugstore.com Online Pharmacy - Prescription Drugs, Health and Beauty, plus more which has the Max Factor Store. Keep in mind the availability of Max Factor cosmetics at stores and online depends on the remaining inventory retailers have to sell to consumers. As time passes, their inventory will become depleted and not replaced.

As a fan of Max Factor, you may be interested to know we also make CoverGirl, the nations #1 cosmetics brand. As a replacement for your favorite mascara, please try:

    - For Max Factor 2000 Calorie Classic Straight Brush, try CoverGirl Professional Super Thick Lash
    - For Max Factor 2000 Calorie Classic Straight Brush Waterproof, try CoverGirl Professional All in One Waterproof
    - For Max Factor 2000 Calorie Classic Curved Brush, try CoverGirl Professional Curved
    - For Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper, try CoverGirl LashBlast
    - For Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Waterproof, try CoverGirl LashBlast Waterproof

Try the maybelline volume express "the colossal". It's the one in the yellow tube. I quit buying mascara from sephora when I discovered it.

Do not try Revlon Fabulash, awful stuff. Globby, flaky, made my eyes BURN and I have never had that reaction before.

I was at the beauty stuff store today and they had 2000 calorie mascara on clearance for 99 dkk which is 17$ right now. (Things are generally more expensive here that in the US).

I'm going to the US for christmas so if you'd like I could bring a few and post them from within the country, to save shipping. We could possibly do a deal with a silk veil as payment instead of cash Let me know.
