Adding a lining to bra & belt?
I need to get to work on a costume, which is a bra & belt.
I need to put some padding in the bra & also line the bra & belt.
What is the best way of doing this & what material do you usually use?
Thanks.

Re: Adding a lining to bra & belt?
I think the easiest way to pad a bra is to buy actual bra padding, already sewn together, from a fabric/craft store. The shape will be correct and it's easy to arrange. Arrange it so it looks nice, then sew it in, even if you only tack it down on each end. Here is a gilded serpent article on a different way to pad a bra.
For lining, many use t shirts or thin felt. Some take off the old lining and use that as a pattern to trace the new. If you want more info, I love the Costume Goddess' book, "Cabaret Bra and Belt for Bellydancers." It is beyond complete from designing a flattering set to construction.

Re: Adding a lining to bra & belt?
Hope you do not mind the thread hi-jack....I also have a question, if you are padding and lining a bra, which comes first? or is it just preference?

Re: Adding a lining to bra & belt?
Depends on what you are using for padding. If you are using batting, you'll probably want to line first. If you are using cutlets - foam or gel, either will work. Just make sure you have sewn them in!
