Any suggestions for good coverage makeup for breakout prone skin?
I feel like I've tried everything.
I tried samples from Everyday Minerals, but after a couple of hours my skin still got oily, and there wasn't a lot of coverage, so you could still see my chicken pox scars, and it didn't really even out my skin tone.
So then I tried samples from Face Atelier, but after a couple hours of wearing it, same story, and it made me break out.
The Bodyography and GloMinerals pressed powder foundations don't typically make me break out, but the coverage is so light that it doesn't really do anything to even out my skin tone.
I'm hesitant to buy any drug store brands, because I have a really hard time finding a matching color. I'm of mixed race, and it's hard to find something that really works.
..cr.:
Does anyone have any suggestions for either an everyday option, or a performance option?
Thank you so much!

Re: Any suggestions for good coverage makeup for breakout prone skin?
I have bad skin. Scars, acne, uneven color- you name it, I need to cover it. I use mostly drugstore stuff but what works for me for coverage is layering products. For performing, I use a silicone based primer for smoothing, Max Factor pan stick makeup for coverage (I love this product), and a mineral foundation on top of that (I have Loreal Bare Perfect something which covers better than bare or everyday minerals IMO), plus on tough (long, hot) days I use a mineral veil on top of everything to set (have to add in color with bronzer, blush and highlighter after all that evening out).
I had MAC airbrushing done once (over primer) and didn't like it nearly as well as the layering (less coverage and a dry, slightly cakey finish). I'm sure there are more expert methods, but this is what trial and error has led me to. Luckily, I find if I steer clear of fragrances, piling on products doesn't break me out any more than usual.

Hi
I agree with you that the nw formula from Everyday minerals sucks.
After years of usung EDM I converted to Lucy minerals and love it. The foundation is powder but feel much more creamier and has unbelievable coverage. They have 4 different formulas and the one with silica goes on even smoother. The best to control oil i found formula with calcium carbonate. But they all have incredible coverage and creamy- like feel.
The samples are very inexpensive and last a while.
You might also consider using concealer on your marks, I found Makeup Forever Full Cover to be the best.
Also for scars there are lightening products, i use for my acne marks Lite'n' bright serum combined with Mandelic acid from GOW ( Garden of wisdom)
Sorry for too much info , but Im cometics addict. ;-)

I got it bad, too. So I'm always shocked when people tell me my skin is gorgeous & glowing when I'm done up for a gig (I never wear makeup other than for a gig).
I start with the Loreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base (a silicone primer). That really smoothes over the pits/scars and even active wounds and helps the multiple layers of Bare Essentuals/Bare Minerals foundation glide on without looking pockmarked or scaly. I finish with Lancome translucent powder.

I have had really good results with Vichy Dermablend. It covers EVERYTHING, and has stayed put during long gigs. I layer it over a regular layer of foundation and then powder the whole thing. Not sure about the colour selection - I have light olive skin and was able to find a good match, but I'm not sure how many options they have.

Good to know--it seems like at least when it comes to non-black skin tones, light olive can be the hardest to match in a makeup line! I was thrilled to find out that Everyday Minerals knows that light olive skin exists and makes foundation to match my skin tone, but yeah, the coverage is nothing to write home about, even in the intensive formula.

I saw your post CoralSugar and just spoke with Anne at Lucy Minerals. She is a lovely person and very helpful with choosing shades, forumulas etc. I placed an order today. I too have quite oily skin and am now using E.D. minerals, and while it is okay, I still am incredibly shiny. Anne recommended using Johnson and Johnson's blotting papers. You can get them at any Wal Mart. I'm trying thos too
