Thread: Costume recommendations

Im doing a performance at a hafla. I dont need a very fancy egyptian cabaret costume but something flattering and eye catching because this is my first performance and dont want to look plain or frumpy. The issue is my bust is a 36F. I cant find a costume anywhere in that size that wont cost an arm and a leg.Plus, they are way to fancy for this affair. Any suggestions on a decent priced, somewhat glamorous costume, cut for a buxom women? Any websites?

A troupemate of mine purchased her costume from www.missbellydance.com. She's had it for about three years now, and it still looks great!

and then she bought a second top to switch out with it.

Luvnafctn, that costume looks like it can work. Im glad to here its not poor quality because the price is great :)

I also recommend LRose. You'll definitely get great quality and they will make sure that the items will fit you and get to you in a timely manner.

Miss Belly Dance has good quality for the price, but they don't tailor make anything for you and sometimes they are slow getting things to you because it is all mass made in China.

Check out Sharifwear, too. Very nice quality and flattering. Not the lowest price out there, but really pretty things. And with the wrap tops you can wear your own bra underneath. I also wear a body stocking with my set because I have loose skin on my tummy from weight loss and childbearing.

I had a bad experience with W3 about 3 years ago. I had a show coming,placed an order for a costume and paid. They later on informed me it wasnt going to be available on time and refunded my money. But since it was such a hassle by giving me short notice on getting a replacement costume, they asked me to pick out another one and they would send it to me with a huge discount to make up for it.I never heard from them again nor got a costume and had to rush through someone else to get a costume on time. I wasnt pleased.

what size hip are you, and what length do you wear your skirts? I'm the same bra size, and I have a very cute bra/skirt ensemble to sell that would be great for a more polished but not pro costume.

it's a zebra-ish print with hot pink accents.... bought it from bhuzzer awhile back and have never worn it. price would be around 65 plus shipping.

Lrose is the way to go. They make awesome, high-quality costume pieces. You could get a sleeveless half top to wear under your wrap top, or the costume bra or choli bra is good, too-but you might have a support issue.

Their stuff lasts forever.

You can wear a bra under a banded L. Rose costume bra. You could also get a baladi dress with high neckline (relatively) so that you could wear your own bra.

It's hard to find costumes for the large-chested - but when you are ready to invest in one, check out bellydancestore.biz - they have a lot of DDD/F costumes.

Oh yeah... I forgot about sharifwear. I've always had good service from them as well.

I also totally recommend LRose. Their stuff is great. You can dress it up or down and the fit is really nice. The quality of their fabrics is very high as well.
